My PS3 does sound like a jet engine though but after eight years I'm not complaining. I can hear my PS4 when close but not from the sofa.
That's a sign of age.

You can get Plex for Xbox One (and Plex was forked from XBMC) so perhaps. With universal apps coming due to Windows 10, for media center purposes, I wonder if a Kodi XBMC app would be possible?
Another is when you have to change the browser magnification level to read the post text. That's a sign of age.

Plex is OK, but I'm looking for something that will work of my home server natively. My router has attached storage options and I can play some movies of my PS3, X360 and X1, but none are ideal.
I don't want to transcode and would rather play it directly from the stored drive. While X1 works really good with its native media player app, it doesn't play all files, doesn't play or unable to download sub titles, etc.
I run Emby (previously named MediaBrowser) on my server and use the built in xbox one media browser or use a tablet or web browser to "play to" xbox one.
Never got into Plex all that much.
Server and low cost is a tall order but NAS devices come varying degrees of server functionality. I started out with Buffalo LinkStations which were very solid for me and grew into a Synology DS412+ mostly because my storage demands were increasing. The former is fine for something you want to act primarily as shared storage and the latter is basically a PC running linux with a range of packages ready to install to run web, email, wiki servers, iTunes servers, TimeMachine servers - pretty much anything.Does anyone have any suggestions for low cost/low power and easy to use standalone servers---also trying to avoid having to keep my PC on to view media. I've seen the WD MyClouds, but don't like that you have to go through the internet to manage your files. I'd much rather manage within the LAN.
The great thing about Plex is the snap performance while playing games. You can play a 1080p blu ray rip with no choppiness at all, but the media player app will never run anything smoothly in a game. I believe this is because "play to" does all the transcoding on the Xbox while Plex does on your PC.

I'm pretty sure the WD MyCloud devices are primarily standard NAS devices designed for local LAN operation but their selling point is their additional services that allows you to easily serve/access files from anywhere else as well. Many NAS devices have this and their always optional.
Thats not how it works with Emby using "play to". It is the server portion that does the transcoding, not the xbox one device. If the xbox one understood the media container and codecs it would play it directly, thus no need for transcoding. If it doesnt understand it to play directly it wouldnt even know how to transcode it.
BC versions though unfortunately.
We'll be kicking things off tomorrow morning at approximately 8am PT/11am ET, or as soon as the Microsoft press briefing ends. At that point, we will post our first piece of IGN First content for Scalebound: an extended gameplay demo that's much longer than the one you'll see during the Xbox briefing. You can also expect:
- In-depth looks at various Scalebound gameplay systems
- Behind-the-scenes on how Kamiya-san finally got Scalebound made after years of trying
- Kamiya-san himself on our IGN Live show direct from Gamescom in Germany on Thursday, August 6 at 6:30am PT/9:30am PT (also available anytime, on-demand, after that time)
Entire Gears collection comes with the remake: hmm not bad. Better value than before surely for those that have never played them or sold their copies
