IGN are reporting that Microsoft have announced their E3 press conference.

It starts at 12:30 Eastern / 09:30 Pacific / 17.30 UK BST (GMT+1), will last 90 minutes and will be streamed online. Among others things Microsoft are promising: "everything from in-depth looks at previously announced games to trailers for our unannounced games coming in 2014 and beyond."

It looks like there will be another events pre and post E3 conference.

Yes, MS always go on Monday at the same time, I think 11:30-ish AM Central.

Then IIRC, Sony is that afternoon, like 5:30-ish central.

The show officially starts on Tuesday that week.

Imsomniac talking about SO:

Q:Talk to me about the advantages of developing on the Xbox One.

A: This is a big game. There’s a giant city. There’s a lot to explore. We’re pushing things further visually than on any of our games previously, so you need powerful hardware for that. That’s the obvious answer. And I know a lot of Xbox One owners out there will tell you it’s a powerful machine. There are other aspects of it that I can’t get into right now, but we can talk about them at a later date that would be beneficial for us as a developer.

MS are publishing Sunset Overdrive, and so paying Insomniac to make the game. That's got to be one of the benefits of them developing for XB1. ;)

I heard MS was the only publisher that was going to allow them to retain ownership of the IP. That sealed the deal. I don't know the source of that rumour. No idea how reliable it is.

It is not a rumor, james stevenson community manager of Insomniac said on GAF Microsoft was the only publisher to let them free of doing the project without constraint AND allow them to retain the ip ownership.

After Crash and Spyro, Sony want to keep ip ownership of game franchise!

MS are paying them. ;)

Or they will use the cloud:

Gamers will be able to vote on things they do and do not want in Sunset Overdrive after launch. Insomniac's vision of a living-world environment is one they can update on the fly and change at will. According to Insomniac, "one of the things that most attracted us to the Xbox One and Microsoft was the desire to enable fast and frequent updates," Smith said.

They will be able to accomplish this through the power of the cloud. Xbox One will surely be the proper platform for Sunset Overdrive and we'll have much more on the game later this month in our full exclusive with Insomniac Games.

EDIT: Wolfenstein will run @1080p/60fps in both next gen consoles.

'Cloud features' isn't XBox exclusive, although the economy may be preferential (although I doubt it's better to save money on cloud computing releasing just on XB1 over paying for cloud computing and releasing on 2+ times as many machines). Which kinda ties in with my tongue-in-cheek remark about MS paying them. It's economically more viable for Insomniac to develop this game for XB1.

Isn't that how it always works? You go to the publisher that gives you the best deal? Don't all developers get paid by their publisher to make a product, except for a rare few companies that can self-finance? Also, Microsoft was the only one willing to let them keep their own IP, which is another favourable condition to work with them.

Sure it is! But I remember discussions last gen about how platform exclusives didn't make much sense any more, and we see that with more and more cross-platform titles. I guess Insomniac wanted the stability of the platform exclusive (plus they keep IP). They'd almost certainly make 2x the money releasing on PS4 as well, not including PC, but there'd be either more risks or a more problematic publisher relationship.

I guess the desire to own the IP points to an interest in taking it multiplatform in future.

Of course, Microsoft paying them is "benefical" for them, but I don't know why they will mention that, and why they can't say anything about it, IMO it is not logical xD

I think it can be something like several exclusive games (for example, Sunset Overdrive 2 and 3).

The Cloud libraries and integration may be well beneficial, as long as we draw the distinction between the use of the cloud (platform agnostic) and the ease of use of the cloud (presumably platform specific for XB1).

That argument doesn't factor in everything though.

A lot of games are like movies now where they spend almost the same as the development budget on advertising. Being an exclusive gets you a lot of free advertising.

Sure there is the potential to sell more with a second system but that's tempered by perhaps not having the same push as being exclusive.

Another aspect is the cost of MS's solution. What you can do with cloud is dependent of the upfront and ongoing costs of the cloud based features or mechanics.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 Eurogamer review score: 2/10. Ouch! :runaway:

Waiting for Microsoft to leak they tried to stop this abomination being released on Xbox One but couldn't, dammit!
Oh man, :smile2: and some journalists in search of news and people seemed to be unable to sleep when the game (allegedly) was not going to be released on the Xbox One anytime soon and we got it first than anyone else.

More news.

There is a new fan made website called XboxClips.com which allows Xbox One owners to share and view their Xbox One uploaded gameplay clips online.

It's pretty simple to use. Type in a gamertag to access that user’s submitted videos.

You can see my gamertag in my B3D profile, I think.
