New Oblivion PS3 Screens + Info

Well I see some noticeable AA differences as well as lighting and some color/gamma differences but overall really no inherent quality difference.

I have a feeling both sides are going to blow this out of proportion.

PS3 looks alot better as far as textures and lighting are concerned... nothing huge though. But noticeable.

360 version looks better to me . Sucks- Looks like it has much more vibrant colors which seems to be like every game on the 360 vs ps3. Contrast ratio on the ps3 is BOOMING comparingly, sometimes good but in dungeons crap.

I dont get why this happens.

Anyways Draw distance is easily further on ps3, but it seems liek the framerate is the same to me almost on both, also it looks like PS3 has more AF where 360 has much more AA. Also Lighting is better on the 360 to me. Just overall it has that vibrant feeling whereas the ps3 version comes off dusty to me.

Also no DLC like mehrunes razor is a harsh downer for those who havent played it b4. (The vile lair rocks) And who knows when the expansion is coming out.

I heard an update came out for 360. Wonder what that has.....

That one pic of the shield looks beter on the ps3 tho, though i remember that shield looking weird lol when i played it on 360. I think it was a leather shield?

Is this even comparing the updated version the 360 got like 2 days ago? I think the PS3 version looks great btw.

The comparision video reveals that they both have almost the same speed except the dungeon scene which is slightly smoother on xbox360.

Although I couldn't tell the other finer details, on framerate alone I can differentiate quite well and I would say the opposite. In the dungeon, it seems the speed is almost the same speed but when you get outside, PS3 version has a smoother framerate. This means in the hills and such. Most obvious example is when they enter the town and the Xbox360 version starts to get quite noticeably choppy.

Adding onto this is the smoother loading (the Xbox360 version actually stalls and says "loading area") that the PS3 version has. In the end, the PS3 version just is a smoother experience from what I can see.

One would think that the PS3 version in the dungeon runs faster. But the panning in the PS3 version in this part is much faster than the xbox360, this is due to controller settings and/or how fast they are pulling the sticks.
The fight scene is slower on the xbox360 but remember that the the PS3 version only has one enemy in sight where as the xbox360 version has 2 enemies in sight (difference in rendering amount).

The city scene is smoother on the PS3 (almost fluid) but there are small differences in amount of characters visible and that there is a shadow bug (?) as the shadows are not drawn for the guard and dogs walking past the player on the PS3. The xbox360 version has barely characters visible but a shadow is seen for a dog at 2:27 into the video.

Neverthless I will wait from comenting more on this until shots or videos of the xbox360 version with patch is released.

It seems that the PS3 version lacks the normal mapping on the ground surface in the cities:

A good trick to gain a lot of gpu time.

The 360s version is up close whereas the PS3s version is not. Just look at the pavement in the 360s version at the same distance, its all flat.

No, it's there even if you move, just check the HD comparison from gametrailers at 2:14:

Note: normal mapping shading is by it's nature not visibles at low angles. But the shader it's there.

Every single rock in the 360 version has normal mapping lighting (correctly directed toward the sun), but the PS3 rock is flat, it's not brighter in the side toward the sun:

Xbox 360 version FTW

After seeing the HD trailers over at gametrailers; I would have to go with the Xbox 360 version. The colors/gamma seems (IMO) to be handled better by the Xbox 360. The colors are richer in quality…just look at the tress, grass, and so fourth. I tend to love vibrant looking games more; especially making my HDTV(s) standout. However the PS3 version does edge out the 360 version with better AF, draw distance, and loading times (which seems nonexistent on the PS3).

i dont know something is really strange, almost with every x360 title realased later on ps3 its always a lot of talking how much better it will look like. But the reality seems to be different not only games run faster on x360 ( cod3 for example) but looks better to. Its good that gametrailers do this comparsions so everyone can see how it is.

That seems to be a matter of different output gammas. On a properly calibrated display they ought to look very similar in richness.
