Not sure how I feel. The box looks pretty nice, but it's surprisingly big, for some reason. Kinect looks pretty big too. Controller just seemed like a nice refinement of what we have, which is ok. I like the way the UI worked. It seems very smooth and well implemented. The thing is, I don't have cable or tv, and don't plan on getting it. I was hoping for more talk of their own tv service. They did announce their Halo tv show, but I don't know if that's what convinces me to buy a console. More announcements for something like a "Netflix Originals" series would be good. To be honest, I would have liked to have seen more of Kinect as well. It's Time Of Flight now, and it would have been good to see some real demos of how well it works in a game. They didn't talk specs as I expected. The lack of game demos is ok with me. Those will come at E3. I wanted to see what this box was all about, but they left too many holes. What exactly makes Xbox Live better this time around? Was really hoping to see an "app store" for indie development. Nothing on that front. There was an "apps" view on the main UI screen, but they never even glossed over it.

In many (if not all) ways I thought this was a better reveal than Sony did for PS4, but that isn't saying much. The Sony conference basically said, "We will have games." No shit. Microsoft showed their console, and a little more of how it worked and some of the features, but they left too many questions. So far, both MS and Sony have left me pretty unimpressed. Maybe I'll skip a gen, or what for a Valve console. I don't know. I'll have to see what E3 reveals.

those live TV interactive thing, nothing to do with OS like internet tv or something?

No he said it was from comcast which is a local cable provider in the US. I'm connecting the dots that it was leveraging the HDMI in otherwise i cant imagine what else it is for.

From GAF via Joystick?

Either they are very building very aggressive against a new RROD disaster and/or they have something a tad more juicy than what we expect.. :)

Lets hope they can patch it out so we don't have a whole generation of games that doesn't exist when they shutdown the activation servers. Sigh, my worst fears have been confirmed..
Yeah, this is something I've been mulling over in my head for a while now. Game preservation is going to take a real dive moving forward.

maybe it's really, really powerful. 5b trans fits that.

they didn't list specs. that doesn't mean for all we know it's not 3 teraflops in there. no i dont think so, but yeah.

evidently it is not the tv itself nor just the shows.. it is the interactivity that is key here... adding multiple windows on top so rather than having a laptop open while watching you can multitask all of your needs even gaming during commercials for example without missing the content or extra info like stats and fantasy and socializing all on the big screen and all voice/ gesture activated

Well, but all this fantasy social league stuff might be big in the US but has zero relevance elsewhere.

Check out the timely "reveal" on youtube, PS4 looks way smaller.

Anyway, I think it looks good, not sure about the vents on top, but I guess they need the airflow if they are going for a silent console. More places for the heat to escape will help that.

It's not for me though. I have a TV remote that works with all my channels, I don't really want to interact with it (although I can see the benefit for hard core sports nuts)

So, they better wow with Kinect and sell that to me over PS4s eye2 or I'm down to one console this gen. Kinect that works could easily sell me on it, if the lag is still evident though....

The presentation certainly was underwhelming, hopefully it was mostly about TV so they can have proper game presentation at E3..

8GB is good thing when considering multiplatform developers, should be quite straight forward now with AMD CPU/GPU on all systems.

They did pretty much what I'd expect, concentrate on what Sony didn't, the overall experience of using the box.
I thought it was probably as good as it could have been for what it was, there will be some backlash with so few games shown.
I'd like to understand how the live TV integration works exactly.
MS will show games at E3, Sony will have probably have less new stuff to reveal there having shown a lot of stuff at the reveal, so we'll see how that goes.

I was not impressed by the show, lots of unanswered questions which left me a bit cynical with regards to specifics.

specs?
used games?
Live membership cost?

Why not be more specific????

Does Europe not have a crazy obsessions with managing fantasy sports teams like proper football (FIFA manager or the like) etc?
