This probably isn't exactly altruism on MS' part. I haven't read the entire actual Fig prospectus for WL3 in detail, but IIRCthese were heavily retail revenue focused.

Gamesindustry.biz reported this a few weeks back and it's not generosity. It's interesting how acquisitions like this for games being part-crowd-funded on a shares basis work within the financial regulatory framework. I don't want to think about it too much, I'm already getting a headache.
