I absolutely loved the Last of Us but this DLC announcement leaves me disappointed. Even staying with characters inside the Last of Us campaign there are a lot of different places you could go with DLC, focusing on Bill and why he owes Joel or Tommy’s journey after his rift with Joel, and to go back and focus on Ellie (a character with a well fleshed out arc in the main game) seems cheap and lazy on the writers part. Although, aside from The Last of Us, I’ve always thought the writing at NG was poor (compared to the talent of their artists/programmers) so maybe my expectations were set too high.

Well, we will be witnessing a very interesting part of the story, when Ellie was bitten and did not turn ! It could be a very memorable episode. I would choose this over Bill's story any day.

Did you guys read the comics? Good read and it iirc (i have to re-read the comics) this single screenshot looks quite familiar!
Yeah, it's straight out of one of the comics. Like issue 3 or something, if the dlc is based around that it should be quite good fun.
Looks like they have improved reflections.

Oh boy, that was one strong side story in the game. The way it was presented made it even more impactful.
I think Ellie's story would be much more intense. The way she had described it in the game, we could have a very moving tale there.

Ish's story seems pretty damn intense and moving to me as well. One hell of a grim tragedy too.
Don't get me wrong, an Ellie side story is fine too. It's just that of all the more obvious possibilities to branch out the narrative of TLoU, going with Ellie definitely seems like the least interesting one because she's just so well established. Heck, if you've read the comic you probably know exactly what's going to happen. Thankfully I didn't.

Fully agree!
It could be that they already had lots of storyboards and art drawings floating around due to the comics and decided to go this route...but I still hope that it is not the story in the comics!! As I already read those...but to be honest: there is no real content in the comics imo, so I am quite sure we get something different.

I haven't read the comics. I amhappy with their Ellie direction for DLC. IF t was Billy, I wouldn't have bought it at all. I don't care about him. Ish: yes, very interesting, but I might not connect to him that well. Ellie: Yes ! I can already feel her completely and I am instantly "in" the moment that chapter starts !
Lets just hope they have a solid storyline in there and some intense memorable moments. Their gameplay is already flawless ! The fact that we will be playing as "kid" Ellie, having fun and all, then things going bad etc, through to her transition into an important character who is immune to the disease and the fact that her friend will turn while she won't, how it happens, how they stage it, how she reacts, etc......I am ready: Give it to me right now !

IGN have the opening intro to 'Left Behind' prequel DLC due soon. I've watched it and it reveals very little. Can't see anything in the way of spoilers unless you want to go into it completely blind.
