Last of Us [PS4]

Whats GT6 then?

It might be that ND will start a new franchise on PS4.

Also DLC looks amazing, surely ND over delivered this last gen. Also I don't expect Sony to stop new games on PS3...what year was the last Xbox 1 and PS2 games released?

Somehow I think that Sony will be wanting to move development to ps4 as soon as possible, especially as far as brand new games and franchises are concerned.

They need exclusives, exclusives and exclusives, specially from their #1 internal studio.

Not sure when Unchartered IV is coming out, but it HAS to be Holiday Season 2014 to my opinion. Something tells me it will be somewhere in 2015, which is rather late...

I think we'll see U4 this year. Naughty Dog have already dropped a teaser trailer and the team that did Uncharted 3 will, by fall, have had 2 years solid since that game launched. Consider that the ICE Team is housed within Naughty Dog and they've probably had access to PS4 for longer than most, two years feel like a respectable amount of time.

The first Uncharted launched a year after the PS3 launched and I'd expect a repeat unless Sony have some other AAA exclusives due for release around that time.

We'll likely know by E3 (June), if not GDC (March).

I have high hopes in this one. I have yet to see a game that truly looks and feels next gen. Ryse does look next gen, but its environment is sterile and soulless, animations are mediocre and gameplay is uninspiring. Infamous Second Son also looks splendid but the environments and animation suffer similarly. The rest of the games released sit in the middle of old gen and next gen, or look like 1.5 versions of the previous gen games.
U4 should be it I hope.

I'm still not understanding people's expectations with this whole need to "look next gen". What looks next gen, exactly? It's obvious by now that the gap between generations has undeniably narrowed. We won't see every game, or even a majority, looking that much better than TLOU for example.

Yup, UC4 will be there this xmas. They have been working since UC3.

they just tweeted they only do their engine up and running on PS4 not too long ago. Definitely not going to see it this xmas.

you will know it when you see it.

We have already left LOU faaaar behind with KZSF. Next gen has arrived already, just needs to be played. Maybe he wants a fully simulated world. That won't be a priority for any of the devs except a very few, maybe R* or a Age of Empires like game. Others will focus on "games" with HQ graphics, which we are already witnessing.

Well that's my point. Nesh and others said they still haven't seen anything that looks next gen, which would include KZ. It just gets on my tits. What exactly are we expecting?? Avatar??

Maybe he wants a fully simulated world, an illusion of a living place done perfect.

He isn't really takling about gfx gripes in his post.

He is saying

Everyone has his own expectations. If gfx are yours and mine, it has been full-filled and The Order will make the cup overflow in that deptt. His desires transcend just the IQ !

I don't think that's quite what Nesh said. He said specifically that he has yet to see something that "looks and feels" next gen (emphasis my own). I mostly agree with him. Although this is pretty much what I expected at the start of this gen. The examples he gave of games that look next gen but seem to "feel" last gen seem accurate to me as well. Trying to accurately quantify feel, however, would be difficult for me. But if you were to compare the overall "feel" of TLoU against early PS3 launch games I think you'd have an excellent example. That said, The Division strikes me as a truly next gen game in both look and feel. Obviously I can only guesstimate as to the feel of the game when I only have gameplay videos to go on. Regardless, that one has me quite excited.

Yep ;)

I finally finished Assassin's Creed 4 on Sunday and spend some time just looking at the game (again). For me console nextgen is about not compromising so much. I like that most of my PS4 games are 1080p and nice and sharp, having lived with 720p (if lucky) or less for seven years. I like that framerates are rock solid now and I like that tons of things aren't warping in only when close to my character - the vegetation in AC4 is a case in point. It's renders off into the distance as opposed to only appearing about 10 yards out.

And console nextgen has barely begun!

So pre-loading of the SP DLC starts tomorrow, release on the 14th ?

Can't wait. Pity I have plans for the weekend.

Or maybe just something that doesn't cut corners left and right in order to improve on one singular, other aspect. I think KZ looks pretty damn good. That is of course only as long as no-one opens his or her mouth in a cut-scene. The facial animations - and some of the scripted animations in general- are frequently bloody awful in that game. Doesn't matter whether this is an art or a tech issue either, because when it does happen the illusion breaks and it takes you right out of the experience.

I don't really think we'll see an Uncharted game this year, by the way. Unless ND is just running on auto pilot and churns out a prettier version of what we've played 3 times already of course. If ND wants the series to remain relevant, they'll need to do a thorough makeover first. Another pretty corridor shooter just won't cut it I'm afraid. People pretty much lost interest in both Gears of War and God of War from one game to the next because neither added anything new, and people will abandon Uncharted as well.
