Plying on hard.

And well, the lighting is sublime !!!! Whenu r inside a room and you look outside, it looks totally photorealistic ! Amd the indirect soft shadows when characters get close to a wall : WOW !

The most beautiful lighting i have ever seen. Smetimes I get The Division vibes from the game ! If this was a PS4 launch title, ps4 would win no matter what !

Its a wonder th ey got such absolutely spectacular ambient lighting running on the ps3.

On other news, download is still crawling at 75%. Wonder when the game will tell me I can't play anymore.

Oh and am palyng on hard and basically playing it as a stealth +brawler and it works well till now. Just met ellie !

Yeah, the lighting looks so natural sometimes, it is breathtaking how good computer games can simulate this. I wish I could take screenshots to share...oh and I wish the make a PS4 remake where we get the IQ from the cutscenes throughout the gameplay...

Thanx man ! The download is freaking still goin on. I noticed the download becomes even slower if I play but I am unable to stop myself from playing : 81% now.

And man, the daylight is so fucking photorealistic in this game  that it is unbelievable ! Seriously ! Looks like........well, REAL !! I would nevr believe it that this is on a ps3, but it is ! Its right in front of me ! Amazing lighting , amazing !

And what a unique flavour for the game. I am playing on hard, listen mode disabled and never restarting an encounter if I do badly. If i lose all my weapons, med kits in a randomn screw up, I am not loading an old save like i would do in a normal game, I keep going. Its not as fif I decided to play this way, its just that the game is so immersive I wanna play the way it happens !

Nice blending animation with the environment, especially when covering behind cars with allies. We can see where Eight Days blending animation work has gone.

One thing I have noticed, as I scuttle like a frightened new born through the decayed wreckage of suburban America, is that though every house has a TV of varying size. Not one house has a console - Xbox or PS3...

I've just found a PS3 and two controllers :D
At UCF, after you've just ridden through the square with the monkeys, you ride on and come to a gate barring the way to the science lab with a generator on the other side. You dismount, duck through a door, go up the stairs, cross the dorms above then drop down into a area infected by spores. Right where you drop down is a long wooden cabinet with a black LCD TV on, on one side is a cabinet with a PS3 and a couple of controllers

How are they managing this kindof lighting? Is it all baked? THey can't bake so much of it? It looks phenomenal ! Is there any info on how they are doing it?

If only I could screenshot this game , oh boy !

read the digital foundry article?
The lighting is done exceptionally well, but you can spot alot of cutbacks, eg. only you flashlight casts shadows.

I really cant complain about the transfer speed, it took only ~ 4 seconds to put the disc in the drive. Played up to the part where I am alone with Ellie (for the rest of the game I think) and its not what I expected from the limited information I consumed about this game. Probably was all a tutorial till now (
every encounter and kill was more or less forced, non-lethal sneaking is only asking for trouble
) but reason enough to stop the play through.

There are so much inconsistencies about the enemy behavior that I just dont try "getting by" and then beeing spotted and swarmed. For once you are the sole concern of the AI, humans will run to the spot where they last seen you, straight bouncing through your AI comrades, the only noise enemies can hear is the one you are causing.
I dont think any game will pull of convincing human enemies and can give you an option to survive when you are spotted (I kinda cringe at anyone really trying) - I just thought the bar would be higher than this.
So far it has been a trial and error to find the "right path", and alot retries in some parts (not using "listen mode" and playing on hard). It rather takes me out of the immersion to trying to find the laid out path as death is almost ensured otherwise - maybe I will see if listen mode improves this.

Not one house has a console - Xbox or PS3... Is this the future ND has seen for us? We stop gaming and, as a consequence, are either terribly unprepared for a Z day or we just get that bored we get infected for the kicks?

Its mutually ensured destruction if the console fanboys get their rage amplified through fungy!

After getting about half way through (according to the percentage at from the save games at least) the action's finally picking up and the encounters are getting more interesting.
