EGM: We were wondering if Snake's beard grew in real time and you had to shave it in a minigame?
HK: We actually first had that idea for MGS 2, but we weren't able to do real-time whisker shaving. So this time we also want to include that...hopefully we'll be able to get it in the final game. Also we'd like Snake's face to look older and to show realistic expressions of fatigue as he goes through the game. Well I told my team that, and they said, "Please, we don't want to have to do that." We're not sure what's going to happen with that.
Metalgearih said:I made this video after 2-3 weeks of quality checking and text to audio synching with the help of my friend One here at B3D. The sole reason of this joint project was to help Metalgear series fans to enjoy the most from Kojima and teams efforts. Sorry One, posted it before you. You deserve equal credit no doubt!
This video is the 9min PS3 development kit exhibition from Kojima-san and staff(Takabe-san and Shinkawa-san) at TGS 2005. Where they openly demonstrated and proved that the breathtaking MGS4 trailer was indeed realtime off the unfinished PS3 Dev Kit. In this fansub video you'll see the Kojima team enjoying the demo, pausing, zooming, rotating etc while playing with it. Enjoy.

BlueTsunami said:Thats what i'm wondering. The hair being 60,000 vertices and it being controlled by a physics simulator is a bit extreme.

"So we use the CPU to apply filters that tarnish the screen further"
Is that translation accurate?
They're using Cell to post-process the framebuffer? I certainly wouldn't have expected to see such usage so soon, particularly with bw between Cell and the GPU in the dev kits being so low.
edit - duh, it's one's translation. of course it's accurate Thanks for the vid, a job well done

Besides, there is no such thing as a PS3, so who cares? It was running on SLI GTX's in a high end PC, I dont care what you guys say.
