Then, it sounds like you won't be getting killed from lack of ammo, because you are so tuned in to that sound. Maybe you'll thank GG for that in the heat of battle.

In battle condition, continuous/sustaining beep probably makes more sense since the soldier may be distracted by a number of events constantly. Just reload and the warning should go away ?

I heard they have another high-pitch beep to indicate a successful kill, so that you can move on to the next target. The death animation may be too elaborate to tell.

If noise is a problem then it could use the quite interesting 'low-ammo' function like in Crysis. The last ~5-10 bullets of the clip will glow from the heat.

Um, forgive if im wrong, but there is no heat generated in the clip, only in the barrel where the explosion during fire is (firing chamber or whatever its called). The magazine is basically just rounds stacked on top of eachother with a string under it to push bullets into the firing chamber.

Bad formulation on my part. I mean the projectiles going out of the muzzle not the clip rounds!

Er, sorry to continue OT, but are you sure it's heat, and not, say, tracer rounds at the bottom of the magazine?

That could be a good alternative to the noise, last 5 rounds in clip are tracer rounds. As for the question no since then single shot firing would also have heated/glowing projectiles when using up the last rounds in the clip. The heat glow also increases in strength.

Though tracer rounds could make it easier for the enemy to spot you it will also introduce some interesting moments in multiplayer fights.

So basically, its just some made up heat thingy with no regards to realism

I think so but a good visual indication when the ammo in the current clip is running low. This in intense moments when the player is firing bursts. When firing single shots then the ammo indicator in the corner should do the work as you arent in a "rambo" situation!

IMO could be a good alternative to "pitchy" noises or such.

Sound works better for me because it is still indicative when you're not fighting/firing ! It's too late when you see the tracer round, heated magazine or whatever.

Forget the complains. Just reload to save your life man, don't you want to live/play ?

Id rather have it not make a sound until your empty.

That way i can take advantage of all the morons who dont reload after every encounter.

I dont get that, so many times i see people in CoD4 firing of half a clip off, and even if there is no danger around, they dont reload and go into fights with half the ammo.

i allways reload after ive shot somebody (if its safe) even if i just fired 1 round. Why be at any disadvantage..

 Yes, I always reload after an encounter but sometimes I may switch weapon half way and forgot about it.

What sound are you talking about? I've only noticed the high pitched sound when you throw a grenade and gets higher as it nears explosion.
