Horizon Zero Dawn [PS4, PC]

The image he posted doesn't really show any lod transitions, it's a low poly background.

Pretty sure that they have multiple backgrounds for the island, depending which area you are.
It's not possible to walk from area to another while looking at certain point.
Not there indeed, but there's multiple occurence of far sight of places you've been, or will go throughout the game.

A couple of new offscreen gameplay videos from Brasil Game Show.
The game looks incredible as always.
Draw distance and load seem to have been nailed down and I haven't saw any problems with the shading too (of course, IQ of the videos are not the ideal to judge how it is really shaping out, still...)

Love how this game looks, almost everything animates too, makes the world feel alive :)

Nice, they seem to have their mind blown by the visuals despite shown on the OG PS4 only, the Neo demo on Wednesday should really be something else:). Sony better implement that HDR tho, it's the only way to serve justice to my soon to be bought ZD9.

New tidbits of gorgeous gameplay in the video

Some infos

-Guerrilla wanted to make a game that's "Beautiful in a majestic way" instead of the grit of Killzone. They wanted to create a world you wanted to be in, instead of escape from.
-Work on Horizon began in 2010
- Horizon has its own engine. Not the same as Shadowfall

- GI saw settings in desert, arctic, and temperate environments. Saw machines that will hide in the water.
- Guerrilla promises why the world got this way will be answered. Also say "this is a sci-fi game and that they won't depend on fantasy at any point.
- The various tribes are radically different including how they feel about the machines. Some of them believe the machines becoming more violent is punishment from the gods.
- You aren't recruiting different tribes to your cause but they will sell you different gear and have their own side quests and storylines
- Aloy is most concerned with finding her origin, and most importantly who her mother was
- She has been raised in the Nora Tribe, but the tribe completely ignores her existence. For reasons she doesn't know they seem to shun her.
- The Nora are ruled by women, Matriarchs
- Aloy was raised by another outcast named Rost, who didn't do it of his own will. The Tribe forced him
- Rost is stern and overprotective but only wants the best for Aloy / Father figure
- There are playable flashbacks of Aloy's childhood
- There are Hunter Trials which are essentially Big Game Hunts / Hunter's Guild
- A flying enemy called a d Glinthawk can throw ice bombs
There are "Corruption Zones" which are areas of the map filled with dangerous enemies. Some of the biggest fights in the game can be found [g]in these zones
- There are lots of sidequests but don't expect them to be as expansive as The Witcher[/g]
- Screenshots show a large Hermit Crab type enemy.
- GI was surprised at the depth of the game, how intelligent the AI is, and how fluid the controls are
- You can craft different outfits to change Aloy's appearance

- A screenshot shows Aloy wearing a metal chest piece, quite a bit different than her normal "animal skins" look
- Aloy has 3 different skill trees that you can put level up points into. They are Prowler (Stealth), Brave (Damage focus), and Forager (Resource Gathering)
- Aloy can find modifications when she defeats enemies that can be slotted into her weapons and armor. These affect things such as stats and give buffs.

This game looks soo damn good! The gorgeous lighting in those few new gameplay teasers looks just the same as the trailer which I thought could be touched up, but man GG is once again reminding me why they're in the uber tier along with ND and SSM. Really hope we see the Neo version tonight :).

PS4 Pro footage at 4k but presumably no HDR yet?
Viewed even on my 1080p set it's easily the best looking open world game ever with the combination of high res pixels, sheer object density, lighting and animation. In fact the lighting alone is quite significantly better than any other open world game I've seen. It has well and truly taken my breath away.

The animation is very impressive and looks like ND tech animation with very good blending between animation and the traversal is like Uncharted.

Did they hire some Naughty Dog animator?

Saw the official Sony PS4 Pro video... the IQ is stunning, but the animation and level of detail has me sold Horizon.

mmmh should be a number of cheap PS4 soon now ?
Might pick one for that game.
Wasn't really careful, does it support Neo ? (It will obviously run on it in PS4 mode, but will it take advantage of increased power ?)
