Formula 1 - 2010 Season

Yes, and then he was snatched away. Schumi may have debuted in a Jordan at Spa, but he didn't really do anything of note except qualify well.

You can also see that a other way. Senna and others were good, and on the same level. You could also say Schumacher was just way above the rest, no matter what driver you put him against.

Dont forget that Schumacher in his early years also battled Senna in a jordan (!) against Senna and his Mclaren. So its not that Schumacher only did what he did because Ferrari build a car way faster than the rest.

Not really because there was some overlap with Senna, Prost, etc. when Schumacher was at Benetton (and IMO, he got to show his talents more while at Benetton). And then a bit of overlap when he was starting at Ferrari and the Benetton engineers and crew started improving things there.

As said Schumacher is good, but I'm not sure I'd even have placed him 2nd from how he performed before Ferrari cars started dominating other manufacturers...

SB

Time to update the drivers, below is my earlier prediction. It is of course full of wrongness (Toyota, Button at Brawn etc).
Brawn: Button and Rosberg
Red Bull: Vettel and Webber (no need to predict, though)
McLaren: Hamilton and Räikkönen (if he lowers his demands)
Ferrari: Alonso and Massa (no need to predict)
Toyota: Kobayashi and Heidfeld?
Williams: Barrichello and Hulkenberg
Renault: Kubica and Glock
Force India: Liuzzi and Fisichella?
Toro Rosso: Buemi and Alguersuari
Campos: Senna and de la Rosa or Piquet?
Lotus: Trulli and Sato or Heidfeld?
Manor: Davidson and ??
USF1: ??
Sauber (if they will get a place): ??
Let's update it to the reality of today with some predictions (drivers with ? after is a prediction, albeit unsure) rest are confirmed

Mercedes GP: Rosberg and ??
Red Bull: Vettel and Webber (no need to predict, though)
McLaren: Hamilton and Button
Ferrari: Alonso and Massa (no need to predict)
Williams: Barrichello and Hulkenberg
Renault: Kubica and Kobayashi?
Force India: Liuzzi and Sutil
Toro Rosso: Buemi and Alguersuari
Campos: de la Rosa? and Piquet?
Lotus: Trulli and Kovalainen
Virgin: Senna and Davidson?
USF1: ??
Sauber: ??

Renault: Kubica and Kobayashi?

Is there any real chance of this prediction being true? I haven't heard any substantial rumours nor any news reports...

PS: I think it would be great if true. I think Kobayashi would spice up the grid quite a bit and he deserves a go IMO.

Renault and Nissan are in an alliance together, so having a Japanese driver is not unheard of for Renault. They had Sakon Yamamoto as a test and demonstration driver in 2008.

He is a Toyota driver not a Nissan one so that means little unless Nissan/Renault can sweet talk Toyota into letting them have him

It cause he takes no prisoners. The guy scored 3 points in his second race in a well below par car.

Guess people see something in that. Lets not forget all Schumacher did to announce himself was qualify 7th and people were raving even though he cocked up his start and retired.

This year's Toyota wasnt that bad. It sucked on some tracks but certainly wasnt as bad as previous Toyota's. I think that if they had a top driver they could have gotten alot more from the car.

What is up with everyone about Kobayashi? He only had 2 races.
Did you see him racing? He was very impressive to behold and while he did some rookie mistakes (too many direction changes when defending position, you can't do that in F1 first because of the rules but second because it is dangerous) he fought very well and I think he deserves a proper shot in F1.

Drivers in bold are confirmed, nonbold are my speculation and "educated" guesses.

Mercedes GP: Rosberg and ??
Red Bull: Vettel and Webber
McLaren: Hamilton and Button
Ferrari: Alonso and Massa
Williams: Barrichello and Hulkenberg
Renault: Kubica and Kobayashi
Force India: Liuzzi and Sutil
Toro Rosso: Buemi and Alguersuari
Campos: Senna and de la Rosa or Piquet
Lotus: Trulli and Kovalainen
Virgin: Glock and di Grassi
USF1: ??
Sauber: Heidfeld and de la Rosa, Fisichella, Kobayashi or Petrov

don't think so.

I think we can pretty much stick Schumacher in the other Mercedes now mind you. It's all but confirmed.

When there's rumours like this it is hardly wrong. We just need to hear announcement.

I think it is good thing for F1... more people will now come back to watch F1. But then FOM are trying to make F1 not available to terresterial TV users, so...

Doesn't matter for me. In this I am a genuine sceptic. Until it is confirmed, it is not real.

1FOM are trying to make F1 not available to terresterial TV users, so...

what...
where did you hear that

"Sir Richard Branson issues a challenge to AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes to dress up as a Virgin cabin crew attendant if Virgin Racing fare better than AirAsia-sponsored Lotus F1 next season."

Well that kinda sucks I guess ... but I'll continue to download the BBC coverage as long as F1 remains on Speed over here.
