FFXIII screens, trailers, etc*

It does look amazing. But whether it's realtime or not, the skin shading still makes her look a liiittle bit like a doll. We're still not "quite there" if you know what i mean: I wouldn't mistake that for real skin - but maybe it's all psychological, i mean i know that she's not real so my brain is probably telling me that i could never mistake skin like that for real.
Brains are funny things.
...but it's still a damn sight better than we've seen so far from that style of character design. (Compare with DoA, for instance. Or Enchanted Arms. Or heck, even that White Knight Story that's attracting so much attention right now. ;) ) It's mainly refreshing to see a developer concentrate on presentation like this as opposed to taking the easy way out.

Oh sweet Lord it's a million times better than most of what we've seen so far in terms of character design!!! I just think we're just "not there yet" in terms of skin shading... :D

Yes, well human beings are what other human beings recognize best, and consoles are not infinitely powerful yet. ;)

Blizzrad!

I see they still have some English things to take care of. :p

Looks pretty good. About what I'm expecting for a turn based RPG.

Square posting realtime screens with no signs of AA.

I'm no expert on photoshop but it looks like an artist touched up this pic by smoothing the edges around the girl. The parts they missed are the top of her armband and the hair on the top of her head.

But Im just being nitpicky and i suppose most people wont even see these frames wiz by once the game is running. This really is an amazing looking game.

You're right, some edges are aliased and some are smooth-ish... To be honest, now that i really look at that pic, it looks like the main character's model is pasted on top of a realtime (and jaggied) scene... She's very clean and looks great (and anti-aliased, mostly) while the rest isn't...?

But let's not get into this, wouldn't want to open a can of worms...

What you're describing sounds like a depth of field effect going on here.. it's not particularly strong, so maybe it's dynamic (and the screenshot was taken during the camera transition)?

hm... upon further inspection... most of her edges are closer to 45 degrees, and it looks like some jpeg artifacting by her arms. But, by her right bicep and the lower left of her cape, you do see aliasing.

There's some aliasing on her cape (on the bottom of the screen, and also the similar jaggyness is repeated on the background a bit above the cape, below the monsters chest... ) and her left armpit.
Is there any new videos of FFXII, showing these same scenes in motion?

It was apparently running in the Square-Enix Theatre at TGS but no camera's were allowed. Square usually shows stuff at an event in December. They probably held off on FF13 revealing to not steal the limelight away from the impending FF12 launch in the states.
