DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

Well, for me in PC mode they were a fairly light shade of grey considering, in game mode, they are very dark grey or black.

Billy, everything is set to full. The only thing I changed from before when I couldn't see the road etc. in certain situations was the TV settings.

I decided to check yesterday by taking a few screenshots and viewed them on my PC to compare what the game was sending vs what the tv was displaying and in the end I have them fairly matched.

The road is always visible for me now, even with the sun peeping through a cloud on an overcast day.

So I finally got the game. Hate to say I'm slightly underwhelmed even though I did have fun for a few hours last night. The graphics are good but for some reason left me a bit meh. It's all a bit too grey! Is it just me? Personally I didn't have a huge problem with the visibility except in one or two very specific places, but my TV is quite good at showing shadow detail and I'm sure that's a factor.
The handling and penalties are something I don't have a problem with.
Driveclub is, if I must find an appropriate word, all a bit lifeless.
I'm in a club called Beyond30d as the beyond3d one was full.

Did you try the motion control steering yet? It's very cool. Made a huge difference for me.

One of the last races is extremely brightly lit. I like the game for the subtle things - for instance I was time trialing in Scotland, overcast, and after 10 or so laps suddenly there was a small hole in the clouds that let some sun through, and it lit up an area in the distance that was slowly coming up on me. Really awesome.

One of the last races is incredibly brightly lit, made me blink a few times.

Yes I turned the motion sensor controls on straight away thanks to your advice and yes, that's how racing games should be played in the absence of a wheel.
I like the handling and I don't have a problem with the penalties at all. When I get one, I did something wrong, so it's on me. If I want the best laps I nees to make an effort in staying on the road anyway so it all makes sense to me.

Has the challenges on the menu screen ever worked for someone?

I always have the three dots indicating that it's doing something, but I can never select it no matter how long I leave it.

It's disabled atm. I've seen it enabled sometime during first hours after release.

Last night everything seemed to work, bit slowly, but I would get some server error/couldn't sync data kind of error messages at times.

same here, this morning everything worked fine and after some 2.5 hours error messages started to appear and I was basically disconnected from the server.

I was downloading Youtube and I got a 'server maintenance' message, so they're or have been probably updating some stuff here and there.

Finally picked up a PS4 (well, I pick it up today!) and I grabbed DriveClub as my first game. I'm wondering what the single player offline experience is like, given the online multiplayer issues being experienced at the moment.

You might not always get faceoffs (small challenges coming from results of other players, like average speed on a sector, drift points for a corner, etc). In single reaces you might not always get ghosts and instant lap time recording.

It still sounds enjoyable to play it without the online aspect. Looking forward to firing it up and taking it for a spin.

I played through the 'campaign' the first week, and really enjoyed it. It's very relaxing not to have to pit yourself against people on your friends list the first run through :p. But you'll get to see those I reckon, as those have been working fairly consistently for a while now. Do yourself a favor and give the motion control steering a go right away. I've had a lot of trouble convincing people to even try it, but once they did, they never went back.

Yeah, I had a quick look through this thread last night and I noticed you advocating for giving it a go. I will, sounds like a nice way to get some extra control over the car without having to invest in a wheel setup.

It's a solid driving game, not spectacular, but online is sorted enough for you to enjoy some of the benefits. Challenges regularly appear, you can join a club etc.

It's certainly a better driving game than any recent Need 4 Speed.
