DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

You must be having anti blur skills then

There is a trick, obviously. When you pause the game the motion blur disappears and there is a short pause (but not too short) when you resume the game before the motion blur is re-applied.

Rather easy to share a pic just after you resume the game, I missed only one pic with 5 screenshots I have made using that trick.

Funny that the GameSpot review actually makes me wanna buy the game. According to that review the car handling is very good, which was the main concern. Racing is fun and they day tracks are well designed. Other than that even GT6 is just a racing game.

That basically is the game.

If you want a classic NFS experience, it's a great game. If you like NFS3 HP or NFS High Stakes on PS1, you will enjoy this game a lot.

My only real complaint is that I would like more track races, they are a lot more technical with all the narrow turns and such, after GT series I love them :)

I'm not as much a fan of point to point stuff.

Cool trick man, comes useful when you wanna capture more cars on screen, otherwise I would just stop the engine all together :).

The Eurogamer review is very disappointing, or rather the information contained in the review causes me disappointment in the game. This in particular:

Eurogamer said:
You're approaching a corner and billowing red flags on the right-hand side of the road warn that it's a severe left-hander, but the flatter you can make your racing line the more speed you can carry through it. Spying a generous dusting of loose gravel on the apex, the 1000hz portion of your lizard brain that's dedicated to driving cars fast instinctively decides to drop two wheels on the dirt. At the very least it'll straighten the line through the bend and, if you're really lucky, you can even use some drag to help rotate the car for a swift exit.

Except you don't get your swift exit, because a giant, invisible hand has pinched the car's spoiler betwixt thumb and forefinger. You're dimly aware of a repetitive chiming sound as the speedo tumbles to 45mph. The DriveClub fun police have arrived, and this is their siren.

Wow, seriously? This is an inexplicable gameplay decisions, especially from the team that delivered the Motorstorm games.

Hey Evolution, 1982 called and asked for it's racing game mechanic back :yep2:

So you can't cheat, which seems useful for the longevity of the competitive challenge in this game?

By the way impressions from Forza Horizon 2 are really good and the game has so many things going for it that I can certainly imagine if you're playing this straight after there could be too much of a contrast.

Veering off the tarmac in motorsport generally isn't considered cheating except where the deviation is severe enough to shortcut part of the circuit and give you a competitive advantage.

That your vehicle isn't on the tarmac and therefore loses grip/traction is generally considered penalty enough. I've not played the PS+ version of DriveClub yet but will at the weekend, but I'm desperately trying to recall the last racing game in which the game just slammed on artificial brakes for going off circuit. I think it was Pitstop II on the 64!

It is a good gameplay decision honestly.

It would be way too easy to take shortcuts or smash into vehicles without penalties without it in this game, as it is an arcade game.

It's not Gran Turismo.

Wow. I spend most of my time in racing games on the dirt so I guess this really won't be good for me.

Exactly. Using the terrain to kill speed is the economical choice over wearing out those expensive sports brakes! :yep2:

Gran Turismo has plenty of racing where you are punished hard for the slightest mistake. Try doing a timed lap around the nordschliefe. After 8 minutes putting 2 wheels wrong will make it a red lap.

Yea I know GT has penalties as well. For time trials.

But those don't exist in races. You don't get a red lap for cutting a corner in a race against AI.

I would know... I do it all the time in Circuit de la Sarthe lol.

but this is not a sim, i think they made those choices because with their handling choice it's way better to take corners than in real life.
i don't like sim racing games, i prefer this kind of gameplay, to me it's way more attractive and funny.

But that's all a question of taste.

Damn this game looks gorgeous, the more i play the more i'm impressed. If there was zero jaggies, it could pass for real life sometimes
