DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

This guy finds the audio super amazing, while GameSpot says its bland. This guy finds handling 'iffy' while GameSpot says its great. What I can gather ,from the way he specially let's us hear an Audi revving up, is that this guy loves cars while GameSpot guy doesn't. Hence the opposite experiences.
If this game is anything Luke gt6 , which is what it seems like to me when GS says it's lifeless(I think he wants NFS/Burnout action) then I think I will like it. Anyways we are going to get free tracks along the way, the game might evolve into a good package. I was hooked to just driving around in 24 hour races in gt6 and this seems like a heaven for that ! Hope Sony puts it on store soon.

I pressed download on my preorder yesterday and it downloaded at 5MB/s (about half my capacity) so this morning I had just enough time for a 5 minute test. I switched to gyro controls immediately and they worked great for the slower cars that you start in. Right away my preferred control option, allowed me to drive the same smooth lines as with a wheel, and recommend everyone to try at least one full race with them (give yourself some time to adjust if you've never done this before). I would have immediately won with a good margin of my son hadn't grown impatient halfway the second lap and switched the channel ... (Still second though)

Will report back if ai still like it with the faster cars.

I have 3 Drive Clubs in my PSN store..

A pre-order, one that i can't do nothing with and a third one that tells me i already own Playstaion Plus..

Well gee thanks PSN, maybe work a bit on your freaking store Sony, as a user since PS3 launch i am still amazed how much they can screw simple things up like a simple online store..

I wanted to get the PS+ version so i can test it vs Forza Horizon 2, indications right now are not positive.

Eurogame loves Horizon 2 with a 9 and driveclub only earned a 6, yes it´s not the same exact type of game, but the basic driving "simcardish?" should be.

Open world versus closed circuit driving makes a vast difference in gameplay, irrespective of the driving model. But even then on the driving model end, I expect Forza Horizon 2 to have a more distinct and refined feel for each invididual car, thanks to sharing so much with Forza 5, and that also nets it a tonne of cars, including the wonderful paint customisations. It is also the second version of an existing franchise, where DriveClub is completely new.

On paper that would make Forza Horizon 1 already better than DriveClub, but I hated FH's events and I didn't like its driving either, because I was expecting Forza 4's behavior from the cars, but got something that was more like F4's behavior with all driving aids on. And I hated the off-road driving to bits.

From the looks of things FH2 is more enjoyable than FH1 in most ways, and if I had an Xbox One I would probably have gotten it for the original Test Drive feel it seems to sport, but I don't, and b) we have to be careful not to get too off-topic in this DriveClub thread. ;)

DriveClub looks like it's fun, but the reviews have been very bad at telling me about the game so far, so I really look forward to finding out more about the game for myself tonight.

Eurogamer didn't do itself many favors in my eyes for letting an Xbox Outsider crew-member review this game though - combined with not being very informative, that's a knock against credibility ... ;)

Yeah, it's close to OT in this thread, but these games are very close in release and in some ways in the type. And being so lucky i have both machines i am torn between these two..

FH did nothing for me, the demo at least, FH2 did :)

I hope DC is rdy to download when i get home :)

Uncharted and GoW definitely did, otherwise we won't have some many rip off... I mean games inspired by those.

God of War? - Yeah, I guess that is true. I'm not seeing particularly many Uncharted rip-offs though. Uncharted was pretty much entirely constructed from ideas made popular by other titles from that time anyways. It's a bog standard cover based shooter with some light traversal held together by Joss Wheedon-esque dialogue, I'd argue it barely had an ounce of originality to it to begin with. Either way, the critical reception was great. The amount of Sony exclusives with GotY awards to their names last gen far eclipses the number of MS exclusives. Nobody is out to get Sony. That's just delusional fanboy waffle.

Thanks for stress testing the servers for us Brits, hopefully it's all fixed by the time we finally get to play it on Friday.

Man just started playing, the game looks so much sharper and clearer on my TV than all the footage posted online. It is B.E.A.U tiful! The lighting, scale and density of the environment are so stunning it reminds me of Planet Earth Bluray. I just hope the Photomode comes soon, the game is asking for it more than any other game, also would be great to disable the motion blur on taking screenshots.
