Maybe AC Valhalla, F1 2023, Apex Legends, Far Cry 6, Hogwarts Legacy, the recent Total War games are some that I think I recall AMD having a solid lead in.

I don't know this Youtuber, but if you can trust a randomly selected video, then here are some results of this matchup.

A single result, Borderlands 3 at 4K Ultra, shows a one frame victory (avg fps) for the 5700. It's behind in every other test, including Valhalla.

Other than Modern Warfare 2 and now 3 (which are the same game) - what other games do you know of where the 2070S is bested by the base RX 5700? My measurement is 5%+ in favour of the RX 5700 in the bench scene there.

AFAIK it is an outlier.
I remember a 5700XT was nearly matching a 2080Ti in Forza Horizon 4.

I'm not saying it isn't an outlier, just that something being an outlier shouldn't inherently mean something is wrong with the game. There's no such thing as a perfect, solidified hierarchy of 'best gaming GPU's', so variance and thus outliers are to be expected.

Hm, it does not appear that skewed in the benches I can find
Anandtech bench FH4

In this case with Starfield, I think we can assume something is wrong with the game though if they improve performance so much in such short time. 20% on CPU and 30% on an NV GPU in just about 2 months... it does not seem like a clean example of a game that came out finished or any sort of level field.

I think he meant FH5. With resizable bar, AMD performed very well.

Went and checked and I must be misremembering or confusing this game with something else. I thought I recalled a racing game around the launch period where AMD overperformed and resizable bar just pushed it even further.

I think your thinking of 5, I can't say how performance compares from an nvidia/amd perspective in regards to whats normal perf differences, but 5 did perform better with rebar.

Some of these games in yout list are not accurate, Apex Legends, Total War games (Warhammer 3, Total War Pharoah) don't have any AMD advantage on the level of RDNA1 vs Turing or RDNA2 vs Ampere or RDNA3 vs Ada. Neither is F1 23.

Hogwarts Legacy favor RDNA3 over Ada slightly, but that's about it.

Far Cry 6 and Valhalla favor RDNA 1/2/3 over equivalent NVIDIA indeed, but that is related to the DX12 tax more than anything.

DX12 Tax?
Not sure if that is the right word being used

I'd like to have seen a PS5 / XSX / XSS performance rundown for Immortals after they increased base resolution to 960p (not sure about Series S).

DF briefly looked at PS5 after the patch, where IQ was noticeably better but performance was most definitely reduced, but didn't show anything for Xbox. With the game now usually below the 60 fps cap, it may allow us to see more of where platform differences emerge, and indeed where the differences in IQ are most pronounced.

Now we are finally getting games like Robocop, Immortals and Alan Wake that have the ability to stress next gen hardware beyond just the old geometry pipeline and the rasteriser, it might be interesting to spend extra time looking at these games.
