They have it clearly labeled in the article and in the videos, PS4 version BC on PS5. Do you do this because English is a hard language to understand the words "on PS5" does not mean "PS5 version"? But sure, just have your blind outrage.

Kind of. In at least two recent games the "power of the PS5" has yielded a smoother game playing experience playing in BC when compared to last gen machines. So it is understandable that people would expect a smooth playing experience of a PS1 remaster at least on the PS5 running in BC.

It reflects poorly on Square-Enix, not the PS5. This was a missed opportunity.

    Yes, that quote is saying...

The PS1 version runs better than the graphics mode of the remaster on PS5.

Nowhere is it saying that it's the PS5 version of Chrono Cross because there is no PS5 version of Chrono Cross. It is only referring to the remastered version in graphics mode running on PS5.

They are not wrong. Its still the power of the PS5, even if its BC or not a true PS5 version. Even though its a software optimization problem, its nothing the end user is going to think about. They expect good performance when buying their game for the PS5. Unfortunately that cant be expected anymore, and this is certainly not the first game running bad, and also certainly not the last.

Looks like it runs the same on the series X. I still have the PS1 version of Chrono on Disk I might do something with duckstation that I have on the Series X to see how much better it runs on that. No promises.

So I'm guessing this remaster was built for switch primarily and ported to the other platforms. There is no reason to have the exact same performance caps and res differences as the switch version for the PS4 and Xbox versions

The problem is Square-Enix, there is absolutely no reason the game run worse on Switch or PS4 compare to a PS1. We don't need to go to the PS5 and Xbox Series. If the game was running on a PS2 or a Ps3 it would be the same problem.

Yeah we really have it out for the PS5 - that is surely the reason.

I would not say that, but the twitter post was a little clickbaity

It goes out of its way to not say PS5 version, but it allures to a PS5 version, ie not a "lie". But then again it does not mention that we are talking about a BC title either. So its up to the reader to draw a conclusion what version and when you read it quickly, it is (to?) easy to think it was the PS5 version. So clickbaity, is my takeaway.

It's the only way to play it on PS5.
What difference does it make in the context of the tweet if its bc or not.

The tweet contains as much detail (100% correct at that) to let you know if you want to watch the video or read the article.

All people reading Df knows PS5 is more powerful than a PS1. All people know a PS2 is more powerful than a Ps1... The port is shit on all hardware a switch is much more powerful than a PS1 too.

I guess that's one, IMO, really weird way to look at it.

I read that post and I read it as...

The graphics mode of the remaster of Chrono Cross is so bad that even the power of the PS5 isn't enough to make it run as well as the original does.

Basically, "Holy shit, even with this uber powerful PS5 console, the graphics mode of the remaster runs like shit."

It's a comment on how bad the remaster is and not a comment on the PS5 in any way, shape or form.

And I'm pretty darn sure that is what they meant by that. I can only think that the console war mentality in some people then somehow manages to twist that around to somehow imply that the PS5 isn't powerful? Or some other weird conclusion like that.

But to me, you both assume that people know that there is not a native PS5 version. If you do not know that and only read the tweet. I belive that it most people would assume the PS5 version was tested. Now that it is a less than optimal version of the game, that is of course not up for debate.

As always, english is not my first language, so there are often that I miss nuances etc, but I do not think it this is one of those times.
