Sony this year is more aggressive due to third partnership deals.
  • $50 Pricedrop before the holiday season
  • Deal with Activision, Ubisoft and EA for bundles and marketing rights for both COD, Assassin's Creed and Battlefront
They still might lose two out of three months but it'll definitely be much closer than last year where Microsoft had a clear marketing advantage both in bundles and pricing.

It's not really up

I understand why you brought up the fact that the Gears bundle includes the other (untouched) Gears titles. But I don't think it's really up to personal tastes. One includes 3 remastered titles, the other includes 1, and 2 untouched titles. So just based on that alone, the PS4 bundle is better.

Huh? So if my personal taste was to like Gears games over Uncharted games that would have no bearing whatsoever on what bundle I may like better? I guess I moved to Crazy Town™.

I never made any factual claim about the included number of games. I said the PS4 bundles at the lowest price point provided a better value which they unquestionably do irrespective of the number of games. Uncharted Collection is a $60 product. Gears remastered is a $40 product. Battlefront will be a brand new $60 game. LEGO the movie is from last year and retails for about $20 now. It's a bit silly of you to imply I've distorted the picture here when you're the one making ticky tacky "corrections" that don't actually change the anything.

You didn't make a factual claim on number of games, but then again I think you purposely left out the fact that the competing bundle had more games. I think in some instances that may sway some owners. If it didn't then there would be 0 XB1 sales. As we know there's more than 0 sales, it does change something does it now? If not, then I guess being factual correct is not welcomed here? Guess I need to find a new home.

We've had threads on 'why would anyone by a PS4', 'should Sony stop first party development' and 'Still ranting on MS's policies'.... all of this stuff gets discussed to varying degrees of civility and integrity, the 'Value of PSVR' thread is very illuminating on that front. :runaway:

Somebody posted Amazon rankings on GAF for some other countries. Yeah uh...

Just goes to show Amazon is wonky I guess.

I guess this is very good. Seems Fallout 4 is going to buck the trend of recent lackluster launches (including Blops 3 from what I can tell) and sell great. Doesn't surprise me. Kind of like The Witcher 3, it just felt like it was going to do really well.

I guess just one really big release left this year, Battlefront. Didn't people on here have a Fallout V Battlefront bet? Which I reluctantly sided with Fallout? Should be fun.

Seems weird that XBO is doing better, way better, on Amazon in a lot of the countries we know it actually performs much worse in than the USA! Conversely Amazon US appears to be among the worst performing Amazon's for XBO!

These are the important months! "The only months" that are important from Microsoft perspective... so now you have it.

All joking aside, what percentage of gaming sales does Amazon make up within these territories? In the US, it's about 7-9%...

No idea, but I would imagine "Less". Possible exception of the UK where Amazon market share I could imagine being similar to US? But that's just guessing.

I thought we were discussing the value of what's included in the discussed bundles, personal tastes aside? PS4 + new $60 game with 3 remastered titles vs XB1 + new $40 game with 1 remastered title, and last gen games.

I was corrected when I thought the Gears bundle only included Gears 1 remastered and Gears 2 + 3 for X360 when it also includes Judgement and the original Gears 1 X360 title as well. I suppose that makes things closer.

You say this like we all have the data you are alluding to. Which countries?

The deal on the free 360 games are only good until the end of the year. They are worth $75 if you buy each of them digitally. So you could say the XB1 SKU has more games & are valued more. You brought price into it. ;) I was happy to say that they were valued about the same & that personal tastes would determine which one you would want.

BTW, if you hadn't made the cringe worthy remark "But I don't think it's really up to personal tastes. " I wouldn't had responded. Your more recent wording is more acceptable.

Fallout 4 completely dominating twitch too...triple the viewers of Blops 3, Halo 5 not even in the discussion...granted it's a twitch demographic game (open world).

You get the 360 games if you just buy the $40 game so you can't just add their price to the value of the Xbox bundle. For someone so concerned with facts you sure aren't afraid to twist them just to win an argument.

I didn't start the discussion. The point of the post in which you originally quoted was which bundle had more value packed into them, in which case, personal taste has zero relevance.

Again, I was unaware of what exactly was included with the Gears bundle. You could certainly argue that the Gears bundle offers slightly more value since it does include access to all of the original Gears X360 games via BC.

edit: As bgroovy pointed out above, I was also unaware that access to the original Gears games was also included with the standalone remastered game. In that case, I agree that you can't simply add the value of those games to the bundle since we're discussing retail value. It's basically down to console + $60 game vs console + $40 game.

Glad that you found it more acceptable. But there was never anything cringe worthy about that remark in the context of the discussion.

GAF reports steamspy sez Fallout 4 =1.2 million sold in 24 hours.

Blops 3 reported $550 million revenue in 3 days. It seems ok but hard to compare to past numbers and a bit foggy. A gaffer compared to past PR

Very interesting for me in Activision's PR was a callout to digital. It indeed seems growing fast. I think maybe 25% of sales is in play for new releases? Last year I mostly recall 10-15% digital being thrown around. This year we've seen educated guesses based on executives statements increase to 20%. Take the midpoint of 10-15% and double it and 25% might be in play imo.

On PlayStation®4, Black Ops III set a new record as the best-selling digital full game by units sold in its first day of availability in PS4™ history.
During the three-day opening, worldwide sales rose significantly over the previous two years, including setting a new franchise mark, as digital downloads of the game across next generation consoles rose nearly 100% from a year ago.
