Any bets on Sony mentioning worldwide PS4 numbers this Saturday?

I will say they met their goal (already) of 17 million PS4s sold through worldwide. Just a feeling... :D

There was an interview a couple weeks ago and in the discussion they said they were selling 2:1, I'd assume that was world wide. November probably favored MS in the US not sure about Europe and Asia though.

Old news. Posted a few pages back (post #4449).

Edit: I wonder why MS has done its PR rounds if they had Black-Friday in the bag?
(I assume you mean) Why hasn't?
Likely it's because they may not know without the help of NPD they don't know how well they've done? Or the retailers have not finished with their accounting until a later date? Or because they don't want to release those numbers until it's the right time to?

Could be a variety of reasons I imagine, but I don't see them passing up positive momentum, they'll definitely want people to know that Xbox (if it won) November.

Sony 'won' black Friday on amazon being the number one in every hourly update which continued into Saturday while the offer was still on. So given we know that amazon is a good indicator of sales in the US at least then it's fair to say Sony did better on black Friday.

I have zero doubt Sony comfortably outsold MS worldwide in the month of November. Remember X360 outsold PS3 by ~2:1 in the US lifetime, but the PS3 managed to sell just as many consoles worldwide.

I don't think the XB1 will be even close to outselling the PS4 2:1 in the US for the month of November. I'm gonna guess ~1M XB1 and ~850k PS4.

I say they're ~16M as of the end of November.

I wonder how well the Microsoft Store did on Black Friday? It was really interesting to see that they must of had a lot of refurbished units since they continued to have them in stock even when all the retail units were all sold out. Problem is will probably never know since they can't count them as another sale. Also begs the question how did they have so many refurb units in the first place?

Here is the article I mentioned earlier. All the Amazon and NPD data kind of distort what is happening world wide.

But what would you expect Sony to say? "Well yes, Jim, actually we're all running around like headless chickens here at Sony HQ. Microsoft have completely outfoxed us with their giant vault of money. Frankly, we're done for!"

Even considering Black Friday is predominately an American event? I can't see as big of increase in sales on Black Friday outside the U.S. Though I watched a story on the news last weekend about Walmart promoting Black Friday sales in Great Britain, but the way they talked it seemed like a more recent thing & it still wasn't very popular. Even if Xbox is not very popular outside the U.S. I personally can't see enough PS4 worldwide sales being enough to eclipse the totality of XB1's U.S. Black Friday sales.

Yeah, even considering that. They have BF sales everywhere. They may not be nearly as good as the US deals, but November is still a big shopping month everywhere because it's so close to Christmas. And Sony is heavily favored outside of the US/UK.

Personally, I think the advantage MS will have in the US won't be nearly enough to cover the gap elsewhere... not even close.

Are BF sales ever trumpeted by companies? I'd expect the PR to be winning Nov NPD - BF was just a means to that end. I'm not sure having the best sale is particularly good PR, but winning an NPD would be, especially when MS have been on the back-foot for months. In fact, claiming XB1 won NPD and actually getting to name it, instead of 'XBox' as a combined brand, would be quite refreshing itself!

heres infoscout's data for 2013 & 2014
their past massive failure last year should reflect on their current data

I find this statement somewhat strange… all the PS4 territories (60+) outside of the U.S. should generate more sales “combined” - than North America. Sony’s (PS4) North American monthly sales are roughly around 250-300k… other than the monstrous month of September. So, the additional 600-700k units would have to come from somewhere else - right? Especially when Sony (PS4) is averaging a million units monthly worldwide.
