[360, PS3] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I'm starting to notice there is a direct relationship between my connection quality and my match results. Three bars is on average noticeably worse than four bars. Kind of unfortunate. That tends to mean if I play on my own I will do better because I'll find a host that gives me a good ping. If I play with a group of players I'll usually get three bars and my score will drop. If I watch kill cam, I'll see discrepancies with my game play. The game is still very good, but at times matches can be frustrating. We had a group of nine players yesterday, all from south western USA and then there was me in Eastern Canada. I never had more than three bars. My skill level is just at a point that the variation in ping can make a big difference. Some guys will dominate because of the way they play and will suffer less.

Yeah, I tend to not use my secondary gun, unless I'm sniping, which is awfully rare. So why not carry a stinger instead? It's nice to get the extra points for wasting all those flying machines, and it helps the team a lot. Like Robert said, some of the nasty ones with counter measures can be a pain.

I allways carry the PP2000 as secondary. So nice to be able to whip out a SMG when you have to reload in a fire fight. With stopping power + extended max its quite the gun. Looking forward to the TMP thought.

I've been using sleight of hand a lot, but there's been a few round recently where I ran out of ammo. I think I might create a secondary with a secondary and use scavenger. I'll just switch to the stinger class if needed.

That doesn't help you in a firefight!! :p If you run out, you run out.

I hate that all these shooters allways load you out with 3 mags. I allways have to run around and pickup other peoples weapons, (seight of hand is awesome so dont really want scavenger)

Ooi, so the meetup tomorrow is confirmed ? betan, concepticus-US, Ostepop ?

Not sure if I can play the game in the same timezone as you. I haven't bought a copy of MW2 yet. But will get it if you guys are in.

[Sorry... continuing from a quick conversation in the XMB Chatroom]

^^ im only on from 12CET to about 2-3 Pm tomorrow.

Also, im gonna play 12 FFA matches before i do anything (as my win streak is currently at 88, would be nice if i manage 100, and best way to do that is FFA)

Side note: The allocades or whatever you unlock seems bugged. Some of the stuff (like 10kills no deaths) ive done a ton of times, but still havent gotten. (maybe you need to stay alive for the entire round?), other things like 5:1 KDR title i got today, even thought i have had many rounds before at 15+ KDR (heh, FFA is easy pickings). Maybe you need to make sure you kill atleast 5 people every time you die and not average?

"10 kills no death" means 0 death at the end of the round, not just any streak.

I don't know what 5:1 KDR title is. There is supernatural (10:1).
also some stupid challenges require killing the same player n times without dying, killing top k players without dying etc.

congrats on 88 winning streak.

Seconded. I try to compensate that by playing more strategic, rather than run & gun. I think the reason for this is clearly that not all clients receive their updates at the same time from the host. If you're unfortunate enough to be running with a worse connection than the other players, you'll be further down the queue, meaning that you're effectively lagging behind by N milliseconds. The better the connection of the host and all the clients, the less lag you get.

If you do have some - chances are you'll walk into people that have already spotted you while you haven't (even though you are both facing each other). While you might fire at him, chances are, you're already dead, given his headstart on you.

Played a few games last night - just noticed how rusty I am after not having played the game since nearly a week.

Would love to make it, but I fear I'll be late to the party, as I have a business dinner to attend to that will not see me home until 11 p.m (GMT+1). If not tonight, then hopefully next time. I'm online quite often anyway with heaps of time to spear.

Great games last night by the way Betan. Despite my very rusty attempt of getting back into the game and some connection issues, it was fun.

Run and gun still works, its P2P netcode afterall, so players are in whatever position you see, for you, and whatever position they see for you. Doesn't matter if your seeing everything at a slight lag, they see you with lag aswell. So, running and gunning might actually be beneficial compared to strategic as on your screen your ahead of your position compared to the others screen.

Of course, lag is going to affect your outcome, but there is nothing that prevents run & gun with lag. I've played many many matches with yellow bars and still win, with run & gun. (granted, the opposition has to be pretty poor, if anybody of equal skill with less lag i would loose) You will die more ofc, as if somebody with less lag see you at the same time you see them, your at a disadvantage. Outside of that, doesn't really matter.

Solution: (Do strategic run & gun).

Side note: 101 Win streak!!!!

Ive gotten supernatural plenty of times, but last night i got something for 5:1 KDR. Which seems kind of wierd.

Looks like the timezone difference is getting in the way again. :(

I'll get MW2 probably later. Thinking of giving the indie developers more love these two weeks.

Planning to start some pet project involving Lego Mindstorm and PS3 (may be iPhone too).

LOL! Sounds great. How the hell do you do it?

Hmmm, use ninja to sprint silently from safe spot to safe spot and make sure to keep moving at all times? There are some spots that are more dangerous to be in than others, and it's probably best to get out of them as fast as possible. The rest of the time, I guess it's keep moving and stay alert.

I really have no idea.

If you play online on PS3 do you have people using keyboard and mouse (which the PS3 supports)?
That would be annoying

Not exactly. The game doesn't support it directly, but there are some cheap keyboard and mouse hack controllers for PS3. My friend has one. But then you have the same on 360, but more expensive to do.

Oh, that's good then. The other good thing about getting the PS3 edition apart from free online, is that I won't spend hours trying to get achievements (finishing COD4 on veteran on 360 was possibly the most frustrating non-japanese gaming experience i've ever had)

My "friend" uses one too.

He knows who he is.

Path 1.05 is out, 1.06 will be coming soon as well. 1.05 is supposed to fix the matchmaking and the next patch will fix the javelin glitch. Will give it a try to see if I experience less lag today.

Not at all. These dangerous spots are where you get most of your kills. :)

Any perk that doesn't improve your killing efficiency is one not worth having imo :p I only use perks that increase my output. I dont care about not making noise or being invisible to thermals. I really on my killing to be better than enemy killing, instead of trying to utilize perks to remove enemy "advantages". Instead of wasting a perk on f. example cold blooded, i rather just make sure the enemy doesn't get their killstreaks :) Or take into account that the enemy uses thermal, and either use it aswell or just flank him from positions where thermal doesn't help him.

On each map there is X number of hotspots where enemies are likely to be, based on where you spawn. Just continously run around and sweep all those areas, just run smartly (hug walls etc, for cover.) Clear each hotspot and elevated positions that gives you good angles for hotspots where enemies usually are (ofc, utilize these positions if you see enemies) and keep on moving.

There is absolutely no point in running from safespot to safespot, 85% of the time you know where people are usually gonna be, and where they usually are not. Your just wasting time you could be spending on killing people. I run straight for the enemy, but im not stupid enough to run the most obvious route, that are likely to be covered, nor routes that leave me very exposed to dying when your enroute to some other place.

I continously sweep the map. I know there are 4-5 places where enemy is likely to be, i know from what ways they are likely to approach these places. Make sure you meet all these places from best possible angle.

Granted, due to lack of playtime i dont know the spawn orders in TDM and most gamemodes yet, so my efficiency is not as good as it could be.

Well, I guess you could say I have one person I've known since I was a kid that uses some fancy mouse type controller on the PS3 and I've got one B3D friend that uses a mouse and keyboard on 360. They should both feel ashamed ;)
