[360, PS3] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

In terms of safe zones, I mean places where I have better angles. There are some spots on each map where there are too many angles for me to cover, so I try to get out of them as fast as possible. That brazilian slum map, for instance, has certain alleys where you can be attacked from multiple levels above as well as front back and sides. Maybe that is the difference between my skillset and yours, because I know I'll be dead quickly if I stay too long.

In terms of perks I only use cold blooded on hardcore mode. On softcore mode I always use stopping power because I want to drop the enemy as quick as possible. Yesterday I played a round on hardcore where everyone had cold blooded. I dropped my sentry and it never fired once. I saw two harriers come in and they flew around a while and I only saw them get one kill. It is a useful perk, but I wouldn't trade the damage of stopping power on softcore modes. As for ninja, I find it's helping me, but I haven't even looked at my other options in that slot in a while. I know I got last stand, which would probably get me some kills.

Oh, that's good then. The other good thing about getting the PS3 edition apart from free online, is that I won't spend hours trying to get achievements (finishing COD4 on veteran on 360 was possibly the most frustrating non-japanese gaming experience i've ever had)

Have you played the level "The Pawn" on veteran? That's easily the most frustrating video game experience I've ever had, and I beat COD4 on veteran. I spent at least 3 hours trying to beat that level and even then I feel like I when I beat it was totally by luck.

Veteran is the true way of playing Call of Duty to me. It gives the realism three shot = death better than Hardened let alone regular.

I guess nobody should be forced to play at veteran though... difficulty is there to fit you!

supposedly this game has easiest veteran as well with no infinite respawns.

Yes but IW made up for it by making all the bad guys expert marksmen. Overall its easier but one or two levels are absolutely crushing.

I think that depends on your gameplay style. Some people's styles easily gets adapted to a AI pattern play, some finds it more difficult.

For example, it took me only 40-50mins to do Mile High Club achievement but then my Multiplayer skill really sucks, barely lasting 10 seconds in this genre.

Have you beaten "The Pawn" yet? If you can beat that in 40 - 50 min without exploiting the AI (like I did) then you have inhuman reflexes:oops:

My "friend" uses one too.

I've got one B3D friend that uses a mouse and keyboard on 360. They should both feel ashamed ;)

I am not sure how much a mouse would help in MW2. The hit boxes are quite large (quite a bit bigger than the PC version in MW1) and a lot of the maps create have long "firing ranges." By this I mean there seems to be a lot of "cover or camp" spots that have narrow alleys. A narrow alley really focuses your fire, toss in the large hit boxes with adhesion (crosshair "sticks" to guys--very annoying when you are tracking someone and another target passes in front).

In the last week or so I had 500 kills and 200 deaths (including 2 hoooorrrible nights after work that I didn't have enough sleep). The big difference isn't perks or unlocks, but purely knowing where NOT to go and when. Knowing the maps is HUGE. Then following good basic strategies and doing the little things (fire from one side of a building, get a couple kills, then fall back or flank your position and wait for them to hunt you--and take them out again). Until last night my longest kill streak was a pathetic 7 so I was getting a lot of kill 3-and-then-die runs. And really it seems MW2 lives and dies on knowing the maps. They are very good in general although I find I liked some MW1's better simply because they weren't as CRAZY. Like Scott mentioned, some maps have these HORRIFIC crossfire areas. Elevation is a HUGE factor this time as well. I don't have a lot of play time so I am finding the number of maps and nuances quite intimedating.

So even if a mouse could be adapted to work on the 360, and even if you could overcome the dead zone size and shape issues as well as non-linear time/stick acceleration, adhesion and hit boxes mitigate some of that advantage and map control is by far the biggest factor to success. I can definitely see someone with poor map control and killer mouse skills having a SUB 1:1 KDR as Xbox players are pretty good and being stupid is instant death.

Not a chance.

Nobody with killer aim is going to have a sub 1:1 kdr. If you have killer aim, your KDR is going to be high, knowing the map or not. Of course, you will die more than normal, as your gonna do many stupid things in the beginning, but your still gonna make up with your aim.

My aim is only half decent, and my map knowledge is very very poor atm, but my KDR has never been sub 1:1 in MW2. Not a single round. (Sure, its gonna happend at one point or another).

If map knowledge is as important as you claim, my KDR should increase by a huuuuuge amount over the holidays, we will see.

Then following good basic strategies and doing the little things (fire from one side of a building, get a couple kills, then fall back or flank your position and wait for them to hunt you--and take them out again).

So basically, your strategy is camping an area? :???:

Um, the bad guys in CoD have been expert marksmen on veteran setting ever since CoD2, nothing special about MW2. Its easier, without infinate respawns.

Since I finished Borderlands, I think I'll give the MP another go.

@Josh
You know we're just messing with you, right?

Well, I'd call it "strategic camping", as a counterpoint to your "strategic run and gun". LOL!

I have no clue what you are talking about.

/shifty eyes looking for IW Ninjas

On another note, never heard of people being banned due to a game glitch from an ENTIRE SERVICE. So a DEVELOPER creates a glitch, and because people use it they lose their entire Gold access?

Wow, I think that will be challenged in court someday, regardless of TOS. But I no like that sort of "service."

I wouldn't even call it camping. Finding a flank of ambush point, and then after making some kills changing position to ambush them again when they try to get a drop on your last position again is smart. I push a lot... I get bored sitting around waiting for prey... but camping as we used to define it was sitting in a position and never moving and using the positions advantage to get easy, cheap kills.

Taking advantage of choke points and using the death cam against enemies from surprising angles is a bit different.

But I could see where someone who only runs runs runs and runs some more would think stopping anytime, anywhere is camping. Get out the marshmellows!

Been playing quite a lot today. The 1.05 update improves the lag issue as it will try to find players with < 50ms lag, then 60, then 70. So lag it's still there but I've noticed some improvements.

I still suck in FFA and TDM but I'm having lots of fun with Headquarters and Demolition.

So, people playing the PS3 version, have you noticed any improvements re lag after 1.05?

The match making system is better, i get matched with more players from scandinavia.

Side note: Lost my win streak (110wins) today :( Got bored of winning in FFA, so tried Merc TDM. Which lost my win streak, as i got grouped with a bunch of retards. Had 70% of my teams kills. I dont understand some players, they camp the most bizarre places, block paths, and they never learn anything.

I guess that is why camping works. 90% of the people never learn. Other side had a couple campers (that positioned themselves in good places) and my teammates just kept on running into certain death. Time and time again. I dont get it. If you get moved down by 2 people with MG's from a elevated position, what makes you think that its gonna be better the second (third, fourth, fifth etc) time you try runing past the spot?

Anyways, tried Headquarters. A lot of fun, a lot of kills! Got 45+ kills each of the few rounds i played, and not to shabby killratio's either. Not particularly good xp thought. Better of with TDM and getting 100xp per kill. But then again, no kill limit, so you can kill more, and you know where everybody will be running, so easier to find kills.

Then i tried Search and destroy. There should really be an auto-afk kick in these matches, sucks to have to spectate AFK players. XP was good thought. S&D isn't really my cup of tea thought. Can't stand to spectate other people, and wait to play again. And my playstyle involves a lot of deaths, so im waiting quite a lot. (kills xp allmost makes the wait bareable)

I think im gonna go look for a retard-free clan to join, so i dont have to play in teams with random dumwits..

Played a couple S&D for the first time today and surprisingly fun--and good XP!

Ostepop, could you put up 3 or 4 vids so we can learn from your playstyle?

I dont really have a setup to create vids. My vid cam is old, and doesn't connect with my pc.

I do have a decent digital cam, i will look into it. After the 14th i will have a LOT of time on my hands.

I love my noobtube combo.

ACR with grenade launcher
scavenger pro
the explosive demo increase perk
commando

It's funny to get double and tripple kills on tight maps. The explosion damage is quite nice. The only annoyance is the occasional "dud" grenade from the launcher. I like the post game rage commentary also "fuckin noobtubin noob! get some skillz! WTF!" good times.

If you guys want to get good just load up each map by yourself and run around them and check everything out.

I do it with my friends when we get new games and just goof off and see where we can go in the map and what weird shit we can do. For example we found an expliot in one map that i filmed and sent into infinity ward and hopefully it will get patched.
