It's not like games on HD DVD. I don't think many people complained when Nintendo released DSLite.
Or a PSTwo.

DSLite and PSTwo don't cost $400. I only mentioned the cable as a possibility as opposed to an all new system. Can someone translate the box details in the first post? What exactly does it say with regard to HDMI?
Scaling is a digital process.Isn't the scaler chip in the 360 analog? If so, I don't want just an hdmi cable, I want a digital chip with hdmi port.
I thought HDMI was only DVI+audio, isn't it ?
It's a fake by someone who can't read Japanese as the top of the list says "I/O ports". Why is "HD-DVD" listed in I/O ports? BTW, the correct name for the format is "HD DVD" without a hyphen. On teamxbox they say it was a photoshop:

So it's not a fake. Great, thx.
... I think he was saying it IS a fake?

I dont think we'll ever see the DVD-based version ever disappear completely because MS has said they want to get to a 129 or $99 360 at some point this lifecycle. If they were to pack an HD-DVD drive in the unit, i think it would only be if the format entrenches itself and shows some staying power.
There is no cost advantage (and in turn a price advantage) to MS, thats clear but there is the strategic value of promoting the competing format to BR. The more value HD-DVD players have by virtue of installed base and support, the less relative value the PS3 has in terms of movie playback.
I think the HDMI thing is a definite though, regardless of the optical drive strategy.
What "rumoured cable"? If MS releases an X360 with HDMI, you can use any HDMI cable ever created since the dawn of HDMI... Though i'm sure there could be MS-branded $40 HDMI cables, when you can get one for $5 online.
Thats not his point. His point is current 360 have 12X DVD drives and that the HD-DVD drives' DVD speed isn't as fast (I don't know if thats true), which would affect current and future games if there were a sku with a slower DVD than 12x.
So they wait for 2nd generation HD-DVD drives with faster speeds?
How fast are the second generation HD DVD? 3x? 4x?
Who knows, but it's the obvious solution to the problem you posed.
