I played the Catherine demo for X360 and I really like how they used high resolution Anime for the story telling, however the nightmare puzzles were just ok and were kind of repetitive. I would've preferred they had many different types of puzzles instead of climbing a "3D Tetris walls" which basically all look the same but with different solutions.

I liked the japanese demo a lot, though all text was in japanese to incomprehensible, but I enjoyed it a lot. But the reviewrs say it gets Demos souls like hard later on,but then a lot of reviewers love it for that ! The anime is freakentastic !!!!!

It really does get that hard. The demo is in no way shape or form representative of the level of difficulty.

How do you get over the difficulty ? In Demon's Souls, I can cheese the bosses. It looks like I have to practise a lot for the game ?

I actually don't mind the anime part. The puzzle in the trailer seems a little long, and it's an entry-level puzzle too. :-/

You try again, and again, again, and again, .... until you succeed. Hopefully. Did I mention there's limited continues? (there are mid level checkpoints, but if you screw up too often it's back to the beginning)

It's really the only reason why anyone would want to play Catherine in the first place, so you'd better damn well love the anime bits.

There are limited continues but you can build up a lot by picking up the pillows in the levels. A pillow gives you two continues, so if you are stuck at a place where you can pick up a pillow you will build them up. I had like 80 continues at one point. I played through first on normal, and yeah some levels are real hard. I played through on easy after that and found it much easier, the levels are a little different to make them easier. They also teach you different techniques between the levels if you talk to some of the sheep.

Ok, there are difficulty levels. Anyone tried easy mode ? I'm more curious about the story than the game. :p

EDIT: Oh wait, you did. May check it out during Christmas break.

I've played a few hours (PC version) and I'm inclined to agree, but again only a few hours. Still, I have yet to see anything that isn't highly derivative. Nice visuals, but very little inventive about the gameplay at all so far. My playing spurts with it are getting shorter and shorter.

I've been playing a lot of Dragon Quest IX on the DS. Love it, love it, love it. I don't really like JRPGs all that much, but for some reason, the DQ series hits a sweet spot for me.

And I've been playing a bit of COD:BLOPS, but honestly, I prefer playing bots over humans, since bots don't ever hurl racial epithets in prepubescent voices. If only the bot AI could handle all the game modes (come on, Timesplitters could!), this game would be perfect. I love splitscreen bot DM.

I've played a little KZ3 (which I can't make myself like half as much as I liked KZ2) and MAG, too, but I've been traveling a lot (got a wedding coming up in December, almost done forging the links for my ball and chain), so it's mostly been DQIX.

Ninja Gaiden II - Rocking those weapon master achievements =)

This game is amazing, but it could have been much more if it weren't for the internal bitchfights within Team Ninja..

    Been playing R3 beta.

I asked a few more people in the chatroom and friends list. They all said they are glad someone made Catherine (Probably very different from other titles ?). One of the girl gamers recommended me to get it today.

Looks like I'll be getting Catherine and Deus Ex 3 in December.

Yes, MAG is a very satisfying shooter. <3 <3 it !

Some day I'll go back to play it again. ^_^

Played and finished RUSE. A decent stab at an RTS on a console. Playable but ultimately forgettable.

Brink, which wasn't my cup of tea. At least I'm trading it in for more than I paid for it in the first place.

    Now onto Deus Ex: HR.

Taking a bit of a break from the usual and trying out Red Dead Redemption. It's not too bad, but still has the horrible horse (vehicle) controls and a cluster-confusing menu system that's typical in all Rockstar games. Despite those items, it's entertaining.

I dusted up an oldie Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
I played the heck out of Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black on the XBOX as well as NG2 and NGS2.

I gotta say that I'm disappointed in the changes and performance of this one. It does look nicer in HD, but mid-level loading and Rachel gameplay is butt. I'm on Chapter 8, so near halfway done.

Going to jump back in to Bayonetta after this. IMO, the best hack and slash this gen.

IMHO, RUSE gets too complicated and overwhelming. I think UnderSiege has the right size (Small party RTS), but I sure hope they release the difficulty patch soonish.

R3 BEta and over time I have started liking it and now I think I am loving it :) ! Matches are short, bite sized fun and the smaller maps means you can get to know them quickly and start flanking with out getting lost (unlike in KZ 2 and 3, where I would end up someplace else  )
