Trials Fusion [PS4, XO]

Ah ok, I thought I had done that one already.

Edit: this is where and why my progress in the game died.

You just need to learn to hop on your jumps. It's a quick lean back and then lean forward, but let the stick reset. Don't hold it back then forward. It's a very fast move, like you were performing a movie in a fighting game. Then you just need to worry about landing correctly. You can master that quickly and it'll open up a lot of the game for you. The timing of it, is basically just when you're going to hit the point where you jump (before your front tire goes off the ledge), you quickly lean back then forward. You'll end up lifting your front tire and pushing forward on the left stick just before your back tire hits the edge of the ledge.

Getting that extra distance on the jumps will make things a lot easier for you. Landing on the back wheel and chaining a successive jump on it will take a little longer to master. That track isn't easy, for sure.

I had trouble with that same jump, but I was able to pass it. Could get past the obstacle at 2:09. So close to the end.
Finally passed that part.

The part you speak of was pretty difficult too, but I managed to pass the level (only 228 faults ). I managed to carry my momentum forward just enough to get my front wheel on, then I held the brake and moved my weight backwards to get my back wheel on.

Now I'm stuck on this part on the third level: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=lcGbadZ1h7A#t=97
Looks fairly simple, but that platform is pretty high. Looking at the video, it looks like you have to land very softly on your back wheel and move your momentum forward. I kept hitting the side of the platform and bouncing off.

Ah ok, I thought I had done that one already.

I had quite a bit of trouble there, too. That's right before the end of the level IIRC.

Yeah I was guessing that, or I would probably have given up sooner ;)

Oi sebbi, the guys over at widescreen gaming arnt entirely happy with your game a fix would be nice...
The game itself is now rendering properly at any aspect ratio (including multi-monitor setups). We fixed some bugs regarding to SFX scaling during the PC beta period. The game looks very good at triple monitor setups. One player in the forums have said the game runs now at 60 fps locked (5760x1080) on his 780ti.

Our UI unfortunately cannot scale wider than 16:9, so it stays on the middle monitor. It seems that WSGF found a bug. If the middle monitor is 16:10, the UI is 16:9 but slightly stretched instead of being properly 16:10. I will send a bug report about this to our bug tracking. The PC UI guys should take a look at this.

Passed all of the levels, except Inferno. I can't even get by the first obstacle.
Watched a video tutorial and I don't think I have a chance.

Hah. Inferno looks much harder than the other levels. I might give it another go, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to pass it judging by the videos I've seen. :(

Inferno is always the hardest one. What I'd do is keep playing the other hard and extreme tracks to keep improving and then go back to it. It can be done.

sebbbi,

I'm progressed quite far into the game and also watched a few youtube videos here and there to put some meaning behind some of the challenges in the later levels. What strikes me as quite unbelievable at this point, is the fine granularity a lot of players seem to get when applying throttle/brakes on especially videos that show recorded footage of what I believe is the Xbox One version of the game.

Finding the right dosage of throttle/brakes and of course the balance is essentiell in the later levels - the line is extremely thin in some levels where you're supposed to jump onto nearly verticle obstacles. This can be seen for instance nicely in the level "Ice Climb" where some Xbox players seems to get to the top without much effort (no doubt - he is a damn fine player and practices accoardingly).

Still, I'm left speechless on that precision he has over his bike - something I find nearly impossible at this point, despite quite a lot of practice and play time using my PS4 and dualshock.

Do you, as the developer, have any information, perhaps statistical data, on if Xbox players seem to be more skilled at playing this game (especially the later levels) than players on perhaps PS4? Any chance this could be down to different controllers?

I'm sure it's just as possible on the PS4 - but at this point, I'm just puzzled and there seem to be more videos of Xbox One players than PS4 (which might be for entirely different reasons mind you).

Thanks!

YESS!!

Rock of Rages

Platinum medal!

First time I managed to zero fault it. Hands are still shaking :devilish:

Trials HD and Trials Evolution were both exclusives to Xbox 360. Trials Evolution was later released to PC as well (but the PC version wasn't as popular). This might explain why majority of the old pros are still playing on Xbox 360 or have transitioned to Xbox One. There are some very good players on PS4 as well. Controller definitely also plays a role. Those pros who chose to upgrade their Xbox 360 to PS4 are still practicing how to use the new Dual Shock properly. Xbox One's controller is much more similar to Xbox 360 controller, so you learn it quickly.

On PS4, pressing the "SHARE" button (video sharing) had compatibility bug with the new PS4 firmware v1.7 (console crashed). Emergency patch was issued the next week after the game launch. Because of this there might be less videos from the launch week compared to Xbox One. Also it's possible that Xbox One has more long time fans, and thus they tend to promote the game more (and also promote their user created content).

Sebbbi, Is the user created content different for each platform? Can I play a user-created track on PS4 on the Xbox One? I'm assuming not, because they're probably linked to accounts. I hadn't thought about it before, but it kind of sucks.

Trials is number one in EU and US PS4 store:

Currently there is no cross-platform track sharing. I can't yet comment anything else about this matter. I agree with you that cross-platform track sharing would be awesome.

So I picked this up for PS4. Just started playing, seems pretty awesome. A couple annoyances thus far:

What's up with the save times? Usually they're only a few seconds, but I just had to sit through what felt like close to a minute of nothingness after finishing a track. I probably spent more time saving than I did actually playing!
This is probably fairly minor, but seriously, what's up with this interface? Small text on tons of dead space. I get that 1080p can resolve detail of that frequency just fine, but it's a mild eye strain when you're sitting far from the TV, which I was (I sit anywhere from maybe 5' to 11' from a 37" TV, depending on what I feel like doing at the time). It wouldn't bother me, except that there's no obvious reason that this was done this way, especially since the game otherwise tends to use much larger interface elements.

I don't recall having long save times and I've put over 24hrs into Trials on PS4. There was maybe a time or two but I don't really remember.

It doesn't happen on every save, but I've had a few where I actually thought the console had locked up.. 45-60 seconds to save and you're just sitting there staring at the screen wondering if it's broken.

I noticed that save files for Trials are relatively large (mine is over 100MB). By comparison, my Killzone save is just 11MB. Maybe it has to do with the HDD speed (I have an HGST 1TB 7200RPM drive). The stock PS4 drive is pretty slow.
