The Framerate Analysis Thread part 2

ZOE Comparison
Surprised it's better on 360(But still soso lol)
http://ps360.ldblog.jp/archives/53821248.html
360 Avg:54.429fps Min-Max:28.5-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)
PS3 Avg:48.527fps Min-Max:22.0-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)

360 Avg:39.983fps Min-Max:23.0-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)
PS3 Avg:32.218fps Min-Max:20.0-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)

hmmmm, 360 has a 10 fps consistent lead and more in some cases, but still below 30 fps under stress. I expected better performance for both.

my conclusion for 360 is probably the easier programing lingo it was able to have to pull off the conversion. but even still, below 30 fps on both consoles?....

still picking it up cause i love the series, however i still don't like the fact that they took the word "cockpit" a bit too literal all these years. wish they would redirect that to the chest or head.

.........How's the 360 demo of MGR anyways?

is it 60 fps always or is it lowering fps to keep the rez from dropping too low?

I'm not really surprised by the difference because ZOE would be a fillrate nightmare for PS3.
However I am indeed surprised by the overall performance.

How does the PS2 version compare in terms of framerate ? I know it targeted 60FPS but was it more akin to MGS2 in achieving that framerate or was it like the GOW game where it just ran with an unlocked framerate?

True, some effects were half res even on ps2.
If ps3 version has particle effects running on half res, I wouldn't be surprised of the slowdown.

MGS2 on the PS2 didn't really achieve this anymore than GOW did. On the contrary, a couple of explosions would send the fr into single digit territory without fail. There was also quite a bit of tearing. The game simply got away with it because very little was ever going on as long as you played it as intended.

Here's the thing, for the majority of the portion the framerate was smooth and isn't that what ultimately counts ? Yes a couple of explosions and it'd drop to single digits, but that's to do with fillrate issues I guess, when I recall MGS2 experience on PS2 I remember a case of perceptual 60FPS much like COD, for GOW....not so much.

so it's got higher consistent framerate with screen tearing at 35% though. some of the action cam shots for ps3's version, Raiden's hair looks awful. http://ps360.ldblog.jp/archives/53826280.html

I guess there's a reason why it has a "beta" disclaimer for the demo anyways.

..... a little disappointed in the cutscenes not being in real time. that killed it a bit for me, I hope it's not like that for the rest of the game.

on the upside, neither version seems to drop in rez, even in a moment like this. http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/ps360/imgs/0/d/0ddb71b0.png

Quite strange, game show low res in the previous released shots.

Not surprised by the difference either, but rather disappointed that there are these kinds of issues in the first place. I mean, all of the good HD upgrades have so far proven that it's very much possible to work around the PS3's limited bandwidth and actually achieve a considerably smoother framerate in the end. Okami loves to throw metric tons of effects around as well, and that game runs at a full, juicy 1080p, not to mention considerably smoother than it did on the PS2.

Lens of Truth ran Wii U Black Ops 2 through their machine

Black Ops 2 tears on PS360?
I thought COD games with the exception of Black Ops 1 on PS3 were all triple buffered V synced.

Yeah, though as you can tell, it's pretty minimal. Not sure what the conditions are for tearing though because there are a lot of times the framerate does drop and it doesn't tear.

Seems the WiiU drops with lots of transparencies* and/or characters.

*that fill a large percentage of the screen.
