The Framerate Analysis Thread part 2

It seems like none of you have actually played the 360 version of COJ ;) The game doesn't run at 18-20 fps. There must be something wrong with ps360's measurement as the game actually runs at above 30 fps most the time. It's just not capped at 30, and there's no V-Sync at all.

So will there be a detailed Digital Foundry analysis and comparison of the Xbox 360 and PS3 version?

18-20fps for the cutscene... ~50% torn frames...

They are really pushing the consoles beyond their limits.

Holy crap!

I'm honestly surprised that they can get away with releasing a game in that state in this day and age. I had to stop watching after a couple of minutes because my eyes and stomach couldn't take it any longer!

Why is excessive tearing seemingly becoming an accepted staple of console games lately? It was always there, sure, but I swear its become much worse in just the last year.

It was between 18-20 fps only in the opening cutscene, once the game started it was around 30 fps, you probably would have noticed if you had watched the ps360's video, before you criticized his equipment ;)

I wasn't criticizing his equipment nor his work, but what's wrong is what's wrong. I've watched the video and I've played the game and did analysis as well. The game's well over 30 fps even in the cut-scenes.

I've captured 60 indivisual frames out of the opening cut-scene. It reads 20 some fps in ps360's video, but out of that 60 frames, there are 48 unique images. Yeah that means 48 fps in that 1 sec capture. (I manually counted them, so I could be a bit off)

I mean seriously, you guys should try playing the game before talk anything about its technical aspects. It's really funny how some numbers mislead you to believe that a game you've never actually seen or played is 'pushing to the limit'

yeah tearing whenever the camera moves, probably a new record. I just dont get it why they dont enable vsync and instead lower the detail or even res to keep it at 30fps or near. I mean heck it looks like a broken recorder recording or something!

EDIT: And if it supposedly "runs at above 30 fps most the time" why not cap it to 30fps and vsync?

I just downloaded the Gamersyde 10min gameplay of ~500MB to see the intro for reference. Seems to me it stutters and have massive tearing much like PS360's video hints. 20fps seems plausible. Also visible is the massive amount of tearing and what seems to be similar framerates as PS360's analysis. Say how's the tools working with such amounts of tearing?

Here's the entire opening cut-scene encoded in 60 fps. If you still feel that the game's running at 20 fps, maybe you should have your eyes examined ;)

Woo... no need to go for insults. So far PS360's video contradicts you and the Gamersyde sure isn't all smooth as it would be if 48fps or around that as the camera panning shows stutter. I'll download your video later to see.

You obviously won't see 48 fps in a video that's encoded at 30  My video is only 10MB in size, not sure why you'd have to wait till later to see it as you'd have just dled 500MB video for a reference.

BTW I did't mean to insult you or anything, but it gets somewhat frustrating talking to people so persistant with what they saw in internet video ;)

ISP going down. And I base it on PS360 video as hes shown his method lines up with Eurogamers analysis videos (GTAIV). But your then claiming his tools/measurment is wrong?

EDIT: Done, your's look smoother and perhasp less tearing to(?), clearly over 30fps but then how come Gamersydes and PS360 video shows stuttering that is clearly visible and PS360 analysis is showing ~18-20fps?
