That's a killer deal.

Seems Canada has gotten a $150 pricecut (23 remaining in the onlin store...):

yup, FS and Amazon have it for 550. Bestbuy online has it for the old 660 price, but if you buy it in store, it should scan at 550. its not really a $150 price drop (well, it is for those who were carrying it at 699) but some stores like walmart and ebgames kept the original launch price of 659.99. still, a pretty nice drop here in Canada. it may be due to the fact the CDN $ is doing very well.

Well, the Circuit City deal is for an additonal SIXAXIS. So 2 controllers and the 60GB system for $499, plus the five free BD movies going on for the month of July.

Why do you say that? I certainly didn't see such clear wording.

I say it because it's there. ;)

It's you that's not looking closely enough, rather than us seeing things that aren't there. If you need any more solid indication - just add it to the shopping cart and see what happens!

well, all ps3's include 1 sixaxis controller. if they were just saying that 1 controller was included, i don't think they would say "Free : wireless controller with purchase". if that is the case, that is definitely misleading.

Well it does say in the separate section under the main stats:
Free : wireless controller with purchase
5 Free Blu-Ray movies by mail with purchase

Regardless, to be sure I called the CC near me, and yes, they are referring specifically to a second controller being free.

And just as an additional comment, I also called the Sony Style brick and mortar store--which had previously been running a "buy PS3, two games, and one extra controller and get a $50 gift certificate"--and they confirmed that that promotion ended last night. (I figured it would be gone after the price drop, but was wondering.)

Such marvels, these newfangled "phone" things... :p

I saw that. What I didn't see was any reference to the default controller or a wording like "additional", that's why I was teasing.

Great deal indeed, I envies those lucky bastards.

Lair is an SCE game to be released in August.

That was my reaction a week ago but I read

so it doesn't hurt to think about this possibility.

Oh yeah, now I am completely changing my mind. A blurred out 360 controller and the controller of a debug unit ... hmm. ;) Seriously though it's weird that they put the debug controller on the box like that, although aesthetically it looks nice and they've done weirder stuff (like use PGR3 shots where they meant to use GT:HD shots, leak Apple logos into adverts, etc. ... ).

In fact, the blurred out 360 controller is probably more deserving of a rumor than this. ;)

You have to think, someone went in there with video editing software, and spent hours blurring that out. WHY?

It pretty much convinces me, exspecially when the controller jumps across the table in rumble-esque fashion...

Gametrailers put a video or something on their website about a PS3 price drop supposed to be announced by Sony.

Didnt check it out because I am bored but someone else might do it and tell us

By the way, I don't know what Sony's doing by not having a PS3-branded headset and keyboard/mouse set out in retail. The open standards thing is awesome and I love it (and take advantage of it), but seriously they are missing out on some real basic revenue by not selling some of these accessories themselves.
PS3 has an official headset - PS Eye ;)
