joe75, you really got to stop it. i know that other forum you're use to does stuff to you, like make you defensive, but this is not there. express your views without forceing it on others. You should know CAPCOM really isn't that good in the graphics department anyway. so when they made re4, it was shocking. now that they made something on ps2 actually look good and that's even more shocking. it's true imo they could of did something with those trees and fingers.

No. Even if you are right in your opinion, the problem is the way you express yourself. You've set yourself up to arrive on every single thread about a game and say 'GOW is teh best. GOW does everything. No other console has GOW so every console is crap and PS2 is da king.' That's not wanted here.

And obviously he still didn't get the point that a SONY game running on a SONY machine will generally be much more optimised than a PORT from a 3rd party like CAPCOM of a game that was heavily optimised for another console, GCN.

No one is saying RE4 looks better than GOW, for the record RE4 doesn't look better than GOW (maybe this will make him happy), but that's not the point.

... NGC version of RESI4 uses some simple TEV effects and HW lighting,and thats ALL,SO GO AND LEARN ABOUT TEV UNIT a watch THAT PDF ... page number 14,and stop your shits about HDR etc.
 
The info in a research paper != what's producable in a realtime game. The effects in that .pdf were, in the examples, only being applied to simple geometry. Square have yet to produce any game with AA+HDR+All and sundry effects.

Of more note is that Joe75 has stopped posting and Joe76 appears. This suggest Joe75 was banned. And given the incremental nature of your name, does this mean you've been banned 75 times now?

Rendering Pipeline

Our engine has the following rendering pipeline

MEMORY .. mesh data
CPU+VU0 .. modifiers
VU1 .. custom shader,lighting shaders,transformation,multi texture shader
Graphic Syntetizer


... and capcom manage to do THIS .. "They just replaced all the cool lighting by making all the textures red." .. now go and learn MORE about the TEV UNIT,and a GOOD conversion coding.

Mesh Data .. Polygon data

Modifiers .. They can update any mesh data by CPU+VU0(like skinning, morphing, color animations and so on)

Custom Shaders .. They are like the Vertex Shader

Lighting Shader .. They illuminate each vertex

Transform .. Transformation to screen space, fogging, clipping and scissoring

Multi Texture Shader .. If a polygon has more than 2 textures, go back to the Lighting Shader stage
