[PSN] Fat Princess

Tuesdays and Thursdays are the only official days for the Fat Princess beta but you can still play with friend hosted games on other days. IF you don't have friends on Fat Princess here are some IDs from a Fat Princess PSN email.
In the event that you can't get into any games, and/or don't have
any friends, we have a way of solving some of your problems. We're
creating a handful of dedicated servers that you can join and play
on to populate your Friend List. The servers are being hosted by
the following PSN IDs:

FPTitan1
FPTitan2
FPTitan3
FPTitan4
ServeU

Add these names to your friends list, and join their games.

Without further ado, we’re proud to announce that Fat Princess will make her royal appearance on the PlayStation Network this Thursday, July 30th for $14.99.

Fat Princess will be released simultaneously worldwide in N. America, Europe and Asia. A Japan release is also in the works, and we’ll have more information on that in weeks to come.

Trophy list, for those who care:

Oooh. OOOH. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH. WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Wow, that's this week! :D There was a great interview with these guys at Playstation Nation podcast last Thursday.

Insta-buy for me! Should probably be for everyone. :)

Yes, this Friday. I hope it proves as popular as it seems at the moment. And is as good as it appears. Very excited!

Yeah, just what I was thinking. Though chances are that on launch day it may be a bit messy. But there's a good chance you'll see me online, and it should be really easy to join friends, so then it's a matter of making sure we have each other on our friends list.

Not a bad idea either. By the way I heard on the podcast that voice chat is push to talk, so that's good, but also something you should be aware of - the button for this is the first thing you should look for ;). Also, you start a game full of AI bots, and then players can join. I think you can set this to 'friends only' and that's the only way we can control playing together at the moment, because otherwise you're just hooked up based on ping/ip and there's no option yet for password protecting a game.

So still important to fill those friends lists ;)

What about friends of friends? I presume it'll just be friends of the host. I'll have to start adding PSN names!

I think password protect will be needed though. Sometimes a group of friends may want to play without others turning up, such as trying cunning tactics. I also hope for serious party voice chat. I'd rather be a group of four playing close, than part of 16 with a few voice commands mixing it up. As Deepbrown can testify when he's visited our Warhawk game, I'll merrily chat about nonsense treating voice-chat like a phone call, rather than specific game stuff!

Well in the Playstation Nation podcast the devs gave password protect as an example of a feature they may add later if people complain about it enough. No idea if it has to be friends of the host, that's a good question.

I guess we'll just have to join the B3S chatroom and organize it from there :D

Yep, sounds like a plan. Time zones permitting of course. That chatroom thing is great - I'd never used one before seeing the thread on B3D.

The psychological gulf between ~$10 and $15... it's harsh! But I guess Sony ran their own calculus on it as well; probably as simple as a demand curve progression with a price drop built-in down the line.

Anyway I'll be an early adopter myself, with hopefully the time available to get in on Day 1 B3D action!

Thursday night what time zone ?

Count me in. Trying to finish as much work as possible now to make it.

GMT for me, should be on from about 8ish as ive got gym thursdays. You are the only one on my friends list from b3d so far and i aint in the chatroom thing so ill be relying on you to get me in the game! ;)

Eh, I sent you a link to the B3D chatroom a minute ago. That way I'm off the hook.

I am blocking enough people at work already.

GMT 8pm is PST 1pm I think. I would be working. :^/

Not as harsh as the Euro conversion. The Eurozone gets to pay $20 for this. Joy

One big worry I have is getting on the same team with one's mates. In the interview this question was raised but not answered directly. If we join a game, a B3D posse, is there a way to ensure we are grouped on the same team? Or will it be the brain-dead Warhawk experience where we're randomly split across sides? Part of the appeal of this game is discussing and implementing tactics. It'd be a bit rubbish if a group plan to go 3 fighters up front, rangers behind say, only to find the team is scattered across both sides.

Sadly I'm expecting it to be flawed. I am amazed how wrong developers can be with their implementation of the online experience! Especially when Live is forging ahead. Nothing needs to be invented here. Just copy the existing best implementation!

No I think they have this covered. You can switch sides before the game starts and there's a play with friends option that keeps your friends on your team.
