If PS3 can drive two HDTVs @ 720p or above, I can't see why it shouldn't be able to do 120fps on a single screen.
Actually I would rather like to see how 120fps looks.
More than a few times I've noticed stroboscope effects, with fast movement and high contrast at the current 60fps.

er heh, outputting the signal to two displays is not the same as rendering 2x as fast.

are we back to this two screens talk? I mean honestly, who has two TV's that takes HDMI side by side?

The dual DVI support is more of a side effect of workign with Nvidia and extending G70 tech into the PS3.jeez, i mean there's going to be even less home console users that would have two TV's side by side then there will PC users with two monitors.

If youre talking about putting the same 720p signal on 2 screens then that has nothing to do with rendering power, thats essentially a signal 'splitter'. If you are talking about 2 displays with discreet content on each one, youre talking about rendering a 2560x720 screen (at least, not sure what else would be overhead for that setup) and Alpha wolf is 100% correct. Seems like a tall order.

?

It's not the same signal it outputs to those two screens you know.
Otherwise it has to render at 2x the speed in both cases, yes.

You almost answer your own question in the second paragraph of your post. Most people have a PC monitor and even if it only accepts DVI or VGA there are adapters for that.

I don't recall the article but i think it's pretty common knowledge that you do not have to have 2 digital displays side by side with HDMI support. You can run one digi and one s-video or component. One screen could be for video chatting while playing a game usng the new Eye Toy and that screen can be some 12 inch regular old TV.

And people call the revolutions controller gimmicky? This takes the cake for useless gimmicks IMO.

Mckmass - as I understand it KK is making ridiculous claims about the power of the PS3, again. I'm not sure why you can't criticize, or ever be remotely critical of KK's comments.

I know. Judging by the latter posts on this thread, it's becoming apparent that this was a way to get the tribe around the bondfire, with KK on a spit, and then take turns poking him with sticks to make sure he's dead. Just my observation. Have fun.

Does it really matter? The amount of people that will have the resources and/or inclination to do this is so miniscule why a developer would waste a dime coding a game for it is beyond me.

FWIW, i personally think that video chat in small windows on the main screen is much more funcitonal than having to look away to a seperate screen.

No it doesn't really matter. The point is people seem to think that you have to have 2 digital displays to take advantage of this feature, and that is totally false. All I'm saying.

The main draw is, of course, that you can do two player with correct aspect ratio and not have your opponent peeking at your screen (perfect for deathmatchlike games).

I can see myself using that feature if not every day, then at least whenever I have a friend over for session of MPFPSing, and with LCD monitors it really isn't all that bothersome to unplug it and take it into the livingroom

It's amazing how upset people get over his comments. Come on, he is the pimp man for Sony. His comments are laughable, and yet people get worked up over it, as if his words would decide the next generation console wars. People don't care what Ken says, as it's all about the GAMES.

OH MY!!!! IT DOES 120FPS!!! I know what console I'm getting!

It's not his comments that bother but the feedback that comes from them. People defending this 120 FPS like it meant something, it's laughable. Really, what's worse is that it works, wich goes to proove how ignorant people really are.

People may be moved by such words, but don't think the people being moved by those words are Sony fans to begin with? How many Nintendo fans or Xbox fans are going to drop their console of choice because of what Ken said?

People Kutaragi wasn't even doing anything other than answering a hypothetical question. I agree that there's too much contention here. Kutaragi wasn't trying to 'hype it up' per se, and there's just no way that we're seeing 120 fps on any games this gen - unless it's PS3 (and 360 I'm sure could as well) on an awesome future TV playing next-gen Tetris (with all the effects on!).

If fans go for PS3 over any other console over this comment, it won't be a matter of Sony/Kutaragi-hype, it'll be a matter of Western game media hyperbole coupled with consumer ignorance.
