[PS3] LittleBigPlanet Impressions

Not done yet man. He wakes up and cries in the middle of the night sometimes. ^_^

I classified the incident as "fluke" or "drunk night" for the moment.

The game has been updated to v1.20 today. (23MB patch)

I got LBP only 2 months ago. And I find it surprising that Media Molecule does not publish patch/release notes. Been to www.littlebigworkshop.com nada. Interesting guys MM must be.

Most of these patches appear to be related to DLC. If there are actual new features then they usually do give a heads up I think.

Yes I wasted about 2 hrs of my Saturday morning and didn't even get enough letters to spell my name. :devilish::devilish::LOL:

Ha ha, I know EXACTLY how you feel. Playing the level is like getting raped by an attractive woman who's not my type. At some level, there are high points, but I still feel violated. ^_^

What happened to the water update ? Is it out yet ?

Simple complications was a very cool level. Yes, its not easy, but as soon as you figure out the puzzle, its just about getting the action/controls right, just means a bit for try and die and try again :)

Did not get all of the letters though, missed 5, then again I will probably never ace this level :)

I'll list some of my fav levels ;
- Perpetually Pumping Piston Platforming v2 by Slavik81
Not that hard , it's fun to play.

- Way Too Hard For You! - MmSC by ApeCheese
You don't need to work hard to finish this level because there're no checkpoints :D , die once and its over!

- Mayan Sane Temple by RenderFX
I don't know what to say about this level , just play it. It's huge!

And now some HARDCORE levels ;
- A Ninja's Tale - The Blue Moon Dojo - Chapter 1 by DoctorRamatool
There are 5 chapters and all of them are REALLY hard. I just played the fifth one and it is epic! If you're not good at LBP , I mean REALLY good , I don't recommend you to play because these can make you break your controller :D!

And this guy , DoctorRamatool , is really talented. Hopefully he'll keep delivereing great levels!

Upcoming v1.21 patch details
- Profile space has been increased by 250 times.
- Net-code tweaks and fixes.
(NEW FEATURES)
- Create levels online with your friends.
(OTHER)
- No further notes as of yet.

I just hope they fix the net-code and its related stability issues. The game has been out for a year now.. and the game is not stable as it should be.

Additional contents come second. Their first priority should be stability. Considering its just a game on a single and fixed platform (PlayStation3), there is no excuse for poor coding.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will check them out with wife and kid.

There's no way I'm going to touch this. ^_^
Too bad I can't find a YouTube walkthrough.

I only noticed lag. The game doesn't crash at all for me.

If you try searching, you'll see many discussions related to freezing problems.
LBP crashed on me twice. (Some people say only twice? But crash is crash)
For some people, they experience freezing problem more often. And yes, we are talking about a fixed console platform here which means the same hardware and the same software. It's not as if we're talking about PCs which have lots and lots of different hardware & software configurations. Ok. enough ranting. :)

Ah, I have never tried searching for a LBP level. May be that is the trouble spot. I agree LBP should not freeze under any circumstances.

In any case, I will visit JardeL's profile and play the games he faved.

Though the hardware won't create issues, the software itself is so complicated these days that it's hard to ensure everything works perfectly in all cases. If creating bug-free code was just a matter of having closed-hardware and designing for it, we wou'dnt have had any bugs in the 8 bit era because the machines and code were so simple...

Sadly bugs are becoming more commonplace, and will continue to do so as software becomes more complex. The days of stoicly robust console gaming are over.

I agree with everything you've said. :) None of software is bug-free.
However, it's freezing/crashing issue that's being talked about. (controllers become unresponsive - forcing users to reset hardware) on a fixed console platform. This is not just minor bug or glitches. LBP is the only title I've experienced this on PS3. Interestingly, I haven't experienced this even on PC platform for a long time, either.

BTW, thanks to JardeL for LBP level recommendation. I'll try them with my family on the weekend.

I guess you've just been lucky missing bugs then! I've experienced lock-ups on quite a few titles on PS3 and XB360.

I've had freezes not just on 360/PS3 but also on PS2(one in Maximo and one in Deus Ex. Deus Ex is a well known shit port so that one didn't surprise me). Never in LBP though.

And although it's a fixed platform they do get revisions which have been known to cause problems. Some PS2 games don't work right on slim PS2. Enter the Matrix has an audio bug on my GT3 bundle PS2 revision.
