[PS3] LittleBigPlanet Impressions

It would depend on how much the sticker pack costs . If it was $1 for 6 sticker or 12 stickers i'm sure you'd get alot of buyers.

Now i'm sure if it was $10 bucks for 6 stickers no one would buy. I'm going to wager that they want to test the waters of dlc and pricing before doing something that mght hinder the dlc.

I don't feel that sticker sales should even be important. Let them sell cool 3D objects and lights instead. But I don't expect those to happen anytime soon either, to be honest. Most stuff will be free initially I'm sure, as the LBP user base is established and expanded.

EDIT: they should time how fast you can go through the tutorials. I made a sport of it and got through in about 15 minutes, unlocking all the tools. Awesome. Just click next tutorial all the time until that icon disappears. (There are additional tutorials for each tool, but they are not mandatory.)

Oh and I was pretty shocked to find that all my beta levels were indeed up there already and some had actually been played too. :D I'd forgotten about that. I quickly locked the rough ones, and left only those that were at least half-playable up there.

Have also received my copy this morning ! First thing I tried was using my Wacom tablet but it is still not supported in the editor.

So I've had some fun playing the single player (and some of the trophy getting user created levels ... :D lol). It's been fun (well ...) also to see Shifty Geezer up in the left corner all the time as the one who has just a bit better score than me all the time at the end of the level :D (though to be fair to myself, I've had to play for a bit without sound on a split-screen while my wife watched a movie on the other half, and this is where a 32" TV is just that tiny bit too small :D).

However, the mine kart level feels like it has a huge design flaw at the end. I can't see how to go on in one bit and keep dying from fire, and then have to travel through the whole level again - which you can do pretty fast, and a few times is ok because you pick up some new materials typically that you've missed. However, it's frustrating and doesn't feel right.

Am I missing something? Does anyone else have the same experience?

You jump into the next cart...

No, I got that one no problem. It's when you go down on a number of big rotating obstacles, some metal, some pluche. On one of them there's a key on the right that's hard to get to, and there's another rotating thing way down under it, but I haven't managed to jump onto that yet. Maybe I'm going into a bonus area where I should have gone on elsewhere, but I haven't found another route yet.

EDIT: wait, I read some posts on Gaf and I hadn't realised that I could probably grab onto some of the wheels and hang down from them ... I'll try that.

For some reason I can't play Deepbrown's and one of Jaeyden's published levels. Do you need to republish levels made in the beta.

You can download a few extra costumes for free in the PSN store, and you can buy a Media Molecule shirt for Sackboy for only 4.99 Euro. At that price your practically stealing them.

I see Shifty playing LBP now. He says don't expect to see him much on B3D. Heh... wonder what level he will build.

My copy has finally arrived - timely too as one of the free London evening papers (thelondonpaper) has a LBP cover. On the back page it shows a "level" with the phrase this ad was made entirely in LBP.

It's still in it's wrapping. Having sampled it in the beta I'm determined to let my GF have the first go. The charm of the starting sequence is pretty cool.

:p

Yeah, I'm wearing a space suit. Doesn't help me against the fireballs in that same level though. They have me locked up and I don't know where to go, and then died. Crap - the level is so big it's a bit annoying to have to go through it so often.

I changed from my space suit into a joker costume, its just the clown face skin and some clothes. I think I'm just past that part, at what point are you stuck? I'm also finding the checkpoint system a bit unforgiving. It's very easy to lose your 3 lives if you don't know what you have to do, having to start over again a few times can get frustrating.

I just played my own level from the beta, it was a lot harder then I remember. But playing after some time had passed gave me few ideas how to make it better. It took me about 10 hours in the beta to get where it is now, I imagine it'll take another 10 to get it where I want it.

They do give you six lives at difficult spots, but still, it's pretty hard sometimes. But it's ok, most of the time it turns out to be fair.

I got stuck though last time because somehow I had already triggered a fireball to run ahead, or it stayed there after I died. Once I got there again today, I did the run again and this time there wasn't a second fireball blocking my path. So I guess it is sort of an issue with the level design - they could maybe have better used a timed emitter.

The snakes level blew me away (also literally at the end :D), what a beautiful level that is with wonderful materials and an awesomely clever and wonderful design mechanic. Very inspiring.

I played around with some of the new materials and I also found I got the led light. That is one awesome and powerful little light! It has a lot of tweaking options, as you can choose a great number of colors, foggyness, range ... just beautiful! I messed around a bit with the materials and the lights and ended up with this:

They also were not kidding when they said the final version would have better performance. In the editor you really notice much smoother drawing and everything just looks better. It will be interesting to see what an ps eye grab will look like when put on a clear white background and a white led above to make it really bright.

PSeye grabs are acceptable at best. I'm not sure if it's my PSeye or the software but I have to manually twist the lense between normal and zoom settings just to get a decent focus. I noticed you had a locked level Arwin, is there a key in one of your other ones to get it? Do tell. I'm uploading videos of my levels right now and will post later tonight. Finished my fifth one and published right before the servers went down. I'm particularly proud of the last two I've done and hope y'all like em. To anyone that feels level building is a daunting task I say keep at it. The more you create the easier it becomes and the more gratifying it is to see your ideas become reality. This is the first game that I've ever felt absolutely compelled to get 100% in, some of the best materials and costumes are the hardest to get but oh soo awesome to have!

I republished it.

Gotta go, so can't write much now. The PSEye grabs look better. Resolution is low but acceptible. The game is definitely hard! And the servers are repeatedly being busted, going up and down more often than a yoyo. Even when up I have trouble actually playing any community levels, or even playing the Story levels online. In fact I haven't managed a coop game online yet...

What about the preorder stuff though? Anyone know where my Nariko gear from Play is supposed to come from? I suppose the other content is free on PSN. I haven't looked there yet.
