Playstation Plus

March: Broforce, Galak-Z and Hitman-beta if I read my PS Plus email right ...

EDIT: and Super Stardust HD and The Last Guy for PS3 (good games both), and Flame Over and Reality Fighters for Vita.

While I've enjoyed several of the indie games, I do believe it's time to start releasing some bigger titles. One a quarter even would be a good start.

AC:BF, Killzone SF, Knack, and Lego Super heroes would be a good start for this year.

Also, a $5 (non-indie) game deal every month would be another good one. If people know it's coming every month they check for it and at $5 they'll get a lot of impulse buys.

I am really surprised that Knack hasn't made it to PS+ yet. I wonder if Sony think it would be poorly received. Speaking for myself, Knack only represents a passing curiosity to me and I'd be very unlikely to play it all the way through, unlike most of the games I mentioned above.

Plus in Europe has given me endless hours of great games (not to mention they're still pumping out great games on PS3). On PS4 I've loved: Resogun, Outlast, Dead Nation, Trine 2, PixelJunk Shooter, TowerFall, Fez, Dust, Pix the Cat, Spelunky, Escape Plan, Steamworld Dig, Infamous First Light, Injustice Gods Among Us, Oddworld New n Tasty, Guacamole!, MGV Ground Zeros, Unfinished Swan, Rocket League, Limbo, Grow Home, Broken Age, Walking Dead Season 2, Kings Quest, Grim Fandango, Helldivers - and I'm sure I've missed a bunch.

Mostly games I'd likely not have bought.

Suggestion:
If 90% of the games you seem to enjoy so much are cheap indies, you would be much better off buying a BayTrail mini-pc and investing in bundles.
I bet the >$100/100€ you spent on >2 years of Plus could suffice to get several hundreds of indie games through bundles.
A BayTrail mini-pc with Bing Windows will play all your Fez, Spelunky, Guacamelee etc. stuff while costing a fraction of what you spend on plus, plus it probably spends less than half the power of a PS4 while doing so.

BTW Ground Zeros is simply ridiculous. What would be a short playable demo in 2005 is called a paid prelude in 2015. The same could be said about King's Quest, which is only act 1.

As for what I stated, Plus has been terrible for quite some time, and not since ever. Things went seriously downhill about a year ago.

If you're talking about PS4 games, then the only full AAA game ever released on the Plus was Injustice. That's in 2 years and 4 months of the PS4's life.
Then we have a couple of non-AAA but non-Indie games like Styx and Oddworld.
Other than that, we've had Ground Zeroes which is pretty much a demo, First Light which is a 2-3 hour long standalone DLC for Infamous Second Son.

There are a couple of actually good indie games like Rocket League and Don't Starve, but the vast majority of it has increasingly become pixelated art noveau / retro crap.

Where do you get 90% from? My indie : mainstream purchase ratio is about 1:1. I used to play indie games almost exclusively on PC and now I don't. The fact so many indie games are are cross-buy and cross-play on Vita are a further reason to play in the PlayStation ecosystem over PC. I prefer to play on PS4 over PC in general and free quality indie games are a real bonus.

So I got 2 years of PS+ service when I renewed my Internet. Haha I didn't know that all the instant game collection games go out after the month is done. I thought I was getting Ground Zeroes and First light among other things... A disappointing turn of events... I guess I need to play some multiplayer games some time to get some value out of this...

Don't forget to "buy" all free PS plus games every month for all PS consoles too :D

PS+ has become super bad imo.

Whereas in PS3 days you got basically an unlimited value out of it...nowadays we get nothing. And with nothing, I really mean nothing.

I really wonder: why is this the case? Why did Sony decrease the value so much? Was PS+ highly sponsored by Sony to get all the content and attract potential customers?

The games cost Sony money to include in PS Plus. Expensive (popular or AAA) titles will cost Sony more money, cheap (indies) titles cost Sony less money.
With the PS4 demanding Plus for most online activities, Sony doesn't need to spend to as much money to get appealing titles.

The way I see it, Sony chose to lower the value of Plus for their clients willingly.
While a good "business" decision on the short term (more money legally? yay), this is costing them popularity and consumer trust. It reminds me of 2005's SCE.

while microsoft keeps making Gold more and more interesting :/

i guess thats competition? when you are winning, you move slow. when losing, you evolve fast.

I don't agree athough I do find the games on offer less appealing recently.

They have to provide for 3 platforms now so inevitably the 'quality' would suffer due to 'quantity' - however I do like indie games because it's generally something I might not buy but end up playing. March we got Broforce which the kids love and Flame Over which I really like and April we get Dead Star which looks like it could be quite good.

I know it's going to hurt but they need to consider dropping PS3 at some point - it must be coming soon, when you look at last month it was 2 very old (but good) PS3 games. Also, I don't get the hate on MGS - it's more than a demo, sure you can rush through the main game but there's many more missions to play through making it more than 'just a demo'.

I agree MS have upped their game and hopefully Sony will follow...but then, it's not like they need to catch up (like MS do)...it's funny how everything is so reversed this gen.
