30 minutes of Move (Sports Championship and Party):

Sports Championship has the same problem as Natal's flailing game. It doesn't look fun (enough).

Compared to Wii Sports Resort, it looks like a chore. Player vs player seems awkward, but player vs PS3 looks more natural because the AI opponent is a much better attacker. More polishing may be needed to make things fun and compelling.

Also, the avatars in Wii Sports are more compelling than the in-game characters.

Looks like something from the Home team. Needs more charm.

The response from the guys playing though is generally very positive (it helps of course if you know German ;) ). They're saying it seems to work better than Motion+, and some of the things that are the least fun for us to watch (like the Volleyball), they actually highlight as a lot of fun. They particularly liked the stuff where you use two moves at the same time. Also interesting to point out that while perhaps for us the 'Play' stuff looks more fun (and they liked how well the 3D tracking was for the tennis racket in terms of graphics), they preferred to play the sports stuff.

They also say that they're interested to see whether or not it will be more than just party titles that will support the Move.

I understand what you mean, they've not managed to create a really great vibe in the game just yet. The presentation can do with some improvement here.

Yes, primarily in the sense that you can customise them. I would actually not have minded being able to use my Home characters ...

Hmm... interesting. Perhaps this is what Dr. Marks meant by “somatic gratification” in one of his interviews ?

There is no reason why they can't look and play fun at the same time though.

So they just translate (PS) eye to latin ;)
I think the name will be mirror translated in some twisted engrish
Miroir
Spec.. something
Glace.. something
Refl... something

The right amount of muscle fatigue is actually a very satisfying sensation. I suppose I speak for a larger group of "geeks" when I say that physical exhaustion is something I rarely experienced in my upbringing, and when I did it usually was in the context of great frustration (competing on the race track etc with more physically fit kids). But I played Wii Sports Boxing three times a week for over a year, just to experience that certain amount of fatigue that I otherwise can't get in such a convenient way, in my living room, in any weather, at any time of the day.

Biking on a fair summer evening is a far superior experience of course, but you can't always rely on that being available.

I feel the need to clarify that nothing in this post is meant to be sarcastic or facetious.

In a commercial/infomercial that is what should happen, yes. But reality should always be expected to be less than perfect, even hilariously so at times. The deal is embarrassment is a highly contextual thing, and if you know the people hopping around, you probably will not take issue, no matter what happens.

Too bad I don't understand german very well, I've been watching the first seconds when they compare the Wiimote and Move but I will take a look at the video later, it's loading very slowly.

Here is a new photo of the gaming world god Kevin Butler, a photo Sony will use on the E3. I find it quite cool.

This Kevin Butler's video still makes me smile nowadays:

Apparently Sony will present new hardware, but it's a mystery what it will be. I bet it is the PSP2, but I am not quite sure yet.

As for Wave, here is a new pic of the game River Rush.

New rumor natal going to be named OCULUS.
Sounds more plausible then wave oculus is Latin word for eye still think natal is better name.

I find Natal quite ugly as a name. I rather prefer Oculus -though it sounds like a Harry Potter spell, Oculus Pocus- or Wave.

I thought Oculus meant Vision, which doesn't sound bad, I believe.

I agree, Natal sounds better. MS is sorta on a "winning streak" of terrible names. I mean 'cmon, Bing, Kin?

And that Sony Move video, did anyone else just laugh out loud when they brought out the controller? I now know what it looks like to swing around a lightbulb. I can already picture a new musical game: Maracas Hero. :)

I'm pretty sure more than 90% of people barely know Natal and Move exist at this point.

Unrelated, but on GAF someone pointed to this video. It's someone who managed to replicate Move functionality on the PC. He has some interesting stuff in there.

Oh my gosh, the video is pure awesomeness. I loved it in general, very original.

My favourite part was the crossbow part, reminded me of the crossbow the Amazon used in Diablo 2, but I can't remember the name. The shield part was great, too, especially to play in modern RPG games like Oblivion and the like.

All in all, very imaginative, and great for minigames in fighting games between matches a la Samurai Showdown, for instance, whe playing the bamboo part.

I also liked when you had to pick a certain key which was the correct one to use, or when opening a door. This was something I imagined before while thinking about those motion controls in adventure games, or even better in horror adventure games (Alone in the Dark).

Like opening a door in a similar manner like the Resident Evil's 1 animation while it was loading the next room. It was so well done and it left you wondering what would you see next. Taking the handle of the door and then rotating your wrist left or right to open it.

I could feel fear and how that game sent goosebumps through my back. "Nice" memories.
10 minutes of Move gameplay (by 2 eh... housewives ?)

The game looks like Sports Championship.
There's a game with a simple kind of speech recognition, and they say their names. The girls speak spanish with a spaniard accent.

The flyswatter part was quite fun, but the video shows the different games in a quite vague manner. You can see the potential if used well though.

For instance, showing your real life image in a game with a 2D or 3D photographic screen, in the woods, or in an abandoned moor between the woods, surrounded by the vegetation.

And then superimposing your real life image on top of the 2D or 3D pic (with the forest in the background), like these ones for instance:

Im wondering if the new hardware rumours could be PS3D. Basically a beefed up PS3 that would play all 3D games at full res and without comprimises from the 2D version. Possibly also allowing higher res, better aa/af and higher framerates on 2D only games. Not a new console launch just a new high end PS3 sku. Doubt it will happen but i would buy one ;)

Sound a bit foolish to splinter your market for something that hasn't proven to become a mainstream thing.

Not sure the same reason i think people talk about how a 360 with bluray player would splinter the market. You just know that devs are going to tap into that extra power.

Im not so sure, they would usually go for the lowest common denominator. And Sony can simply refuse to allow it.
