I hear you Acert, but........

 I mean, come on. Microsoft got their message out, just as did Sony. When is Nintendo going to release their info? As it stands, my anticipation for Revolution just went down the drain. I have no faith what so ever. The design absolutely rocks, but sadly, that wasn't enough info. It's not even the fact that they avoided marketing hype spec numbers (kudos Nintendo) - I am more disappointed by the fact that this conference was all about DS, GameBoy and GameCube software. It's the message I am disappointed in. I'm truly stunned. As it stands, I have absolutely no idea where Nintendo wants to take its revolution. As it stands, it's just a pretty design with the ability to play all Nintendo games ever.

I have to agree here; they failed to get their message across. Hell, they didn't even say enough to tease my appetite. But I guess that means we'll be seeing a SpaceWorld this year

I'm having a really hard time containing myself at work as I keep tabs on the conference. I'm literally bursting at the seams to LOL about the Nin conference, but I have to hold out... I don't wanna get fired... omg... what do I do.... I'll see you guys later....

I find it amazing that people are all disappointed because Nintendo didn't release a bunch of information about Revolution. This was known for many weeks already. They've said all along that they were not sure how much of Revolution they'll reveal. Well now we know.

Backward compatibility, they could have pulled it off with Gamecube. They already did sort of with Animal crossing and Zelda, all they have to do is emulate SNES which shouldn't be a problem.

Damn, I hate it when I was right, about their plan to sells their old games once again. I mean considering how profitable their remake and those famicom classic are on GBA, this is no brainer.

When you think about it, Nintendo Revolution is really appropriate name for it. I guess I was just expecting a different kind of revolution :devilish:

Nice, some titles got confirmation (Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros, Metroid Prime 3, Final Fantasy: CC), backwards compatibility (entire back catalogue from NES to N64, to GameCube), SD cards & DVD (music and movie playback?), nice design (will be even smaller!), special controller, WiFi, developer friendly,...

Next to that a totally unexpected GBA mini (you'd expect music playback actually, making it an iPod rival), at a hell of a low pricetag. Want to see how it will play though.

Also nice line-up's for DS, GBA and GC, I won't be bored this year by them.

I am content, expected less, got more. Nintendo might show their controller/games during the coming months, TGS maybe. Japan will be the first country where the console will be released, so. At least I am quite sure their controller will be better than ;p

I feel the exact contrary ... i start to have the feeling that there will be something special with the whole set.
Rumors like VR and so never interested me, but after this conference i'm starting to ask myself if Nintendo is not waiting for Microsoft and Sony to be too engaged with their project to change anything, to show their concept.

My god man you've got real problems  Seriously I shouldn't laugh to be honest.

PC-Engine you have to understand when 2 of the top 3 give great presentations about their next-gen systems and Nintendo kinda comes up limp, people will complain. Thats regardless if warned or not.

10:14 am: Reggie shows the Game Boy Micro. Says "I know you haven't seen this. It's a hair bigger and two-thirds the weight of an iPod Mini." It's not new technology, but a new look and has the "best and brightest screen ever in a handheld." Not a successor to DS or GBA, but an extension of portable play. The system can be customized with a wide array of face plates and will hit this fall.

Agreed I wasn't even sure they'd show the console this early, but I'm very happy they did because I can breath a sigh of relief that it doesn't look like a cheap purple toy.

Well yeah I guess after SONY showed 99.9% of their cards, people became disappointed with what little Nintendo showed. But then again Revolution isn't launching in Mar 06. Fall 06 is a LONG time, heck the specs probably haven't even been locked down yet.

My own opinion of the conference is that I'm a bit disappointed because I didn't get Revolution specs. Though I always knew they might not be there. The show didn't quite have the umph of last years E3 with the full DS unveiling and Zelda being sprung on us from out of nowhere at the end. But at least it also didn't have the three stooges (Bach, Allard and Moore) with their next gen comedy routine.

There were some decent surprises and good info overall. For instance GB micro and Zelda being even darker and cooler looking then anyone could have imagined. Also in the end it probably had more Revolution info then most sites claimed Nintendo would show. Case design, game announcements, the ability to play all Nintendo console games ect. So while I was always going to be disappointed not to see Revolution specs the conference overall was still good, but certainly not great.

Now I just look forward to the rest of E3 and all the games I want to see video's of and read hands on previews for :)

Well I gotta say that nintendo conference was pretty weak. it started off kinda funny, but then didn't pan out into anything interesting. They didn't show squat for revoloution. When MS & Sony showed everything.

This conference gets a MEH out of 10.

I am disappointed as well that they didn't release any major infos on REvolution. Their hints were merely "you will see later".
On the other hand GBA micro sounds pretty cool; Zelda was a ray of hope as well. So I am having kind of mixed feelings

Well my sum up is this

Ms disapointed a bit with mtv but got me excited with the e3 pre show .

Sony put out a good system but once again put in way to many tall tales and showed to much cgi just to one up microsoft .

Nintendo showed a mock up of the system and said you can buy the older games. Which i guess is kinda cool esp if they are cheap . there are alot of nintendo games they never remade and stoped working long ago that i wouldn't mind buying for a couple bucks . Its no worse than mico transactions for new maps . Though i wanted to see more of the system so i'm a bit disapointed with them .

All in all my stance hasn't changed. x360 this year and ns5 next year . I will get a ps3 once the format wars are over and the system is dirt cheap

I've never understood why people get so convinced Nintendo should leave the market. Go the way of Sega should they???

Doing so makes absolutely zero sense. The company is profitable right now. They're in a radically different place when compared to Microsoft or Sony in regards to placement in the industry. Nintendo uses hardware to supplement the games they want to create. Being in the hardware side of the business gives their first party developers extrordinary capabilities to develop exactly the kind of software they want to make. IF they went third party, they'd be making less on each sale of their game, and wouldn't have the extraordinary input they currently have on where they want to see the hardware moving.

As for their targeting of a younger aspect of the Video Gaming market, am I one of the few people who sees the very sound nature of this business plan? It's like looking at a stock investment. Do you look for the company that can get you 6% return each year over 20 years, or a company that can get you 4% but has the potential to explode with rapid growth ( 20+% ) for a few years?

Sony and Microsoft have targeted a larger market for their product, that's all well and good. They can get that 6% return without any trouble. Nintendo focuses on the younger market that gets them a lesser profit in an average year. Now that seems foolish until that hot streak of 3 or 4 years comes by with the new franchise or innovation that every child needs to have. They did it with Pokemon. I'm inclined to believe they'll do it again with another product. Sure targeting the older player is a more profitable section of the market. They have more money and are inclined to spend it. But nothing beats the purchasing frenzy of every child clamoring for the hot new toy. Why would Nintendo leave when they have a veritable corner on that market??

Getting back to the Press Conference, I dont' know what to think about Revolution. I do think there has to be some core piece Nintendo's very afraid to let out of the bag at this point. I can only assume it is going to be controller related, and deal with motion sensing because something as unique as Stereo-scopic goggles or such would be too difficult for Sony or Microsoft to incorporate in a timely manner.

The DS.... I'm going to have to buy one now, simply for Mario Kart Online play. That pleases me to no end.

Either way, it was about what I expected from a traditionally tight lipped company about their future more than a year away.

Well why release PARTIAL specs then, showing a picture of the console's design, speaking about how much flash ram and wifi.

Ok, so it's a year away. But then they shouldn't release meaningless specs (flash ram? who cares and who wants to know about that when we dont know the CPU, GPU, etc)
