I think the point is that the police aren't beating down his door and probably never will be.

The point is average Joe 1. is not doing it 2. does not know how to do it.

Nintendo is giving a legal service so the average Joe, and Jane, can access some 10k-20k games. Personally, I think Nintendo should make all their 1st party games free from NES/SNES/N64 on Rev. That would be a killer selling point.

I know plenty of "average" people that do it. It isn't rocket science.

I think Nintendo releasing all of its old games on REV is the greatest thing I have ever heard. I never had a chance to play the old FF's or Super Metroid. In fact I missed out on the entire 16-bit era minus Super Mario World.

No, the "average" console owner does not mod his box, install new OSs, and want to download update after update of emulation software that may or may not work, etc.

People WILL PAY for the convenience of "point and click" downloads of games that will work: no muss and no fuss. I know I will. The question is how much.

Who needs a modded Xbox? My PC works just fine.

i think nintendo know what they are doing.

they may have a found a better way to keep making money in this business that to attack frontally sony, they do not have the resources of sony (not only at the financial level).

if it is sold an an interesting price, and if it brings something original enough to deserve a place alongside the playstation, it might be the best choice they could make.

the currents events (DS doing well, new console in sight) doomsayers where proven to be plain wrong... a little too quick to bury nintendo ?

Just been having a think back to GameCube's release. Can people here remember what Nintendo showed of GC in E3 2000? At that time PS2 had just released in Japan and it was around 16 months before GC was released. So the situation was similar to this current E3. Not only didn't they even officially announce GC at E3 2000 but they didn't announce any games for it and certainly didn't show a case design or talk about other features of the system. So in fact we got far more next gen talk from Nintendo at E3 2005 18 months before Revolution then we did at E3 2000 16 months before GC.

Well, Revolution might have conservative styling, but it passes "Home theater rack test" far better two other over-styled systems; a direct reversal of roles from previous generation. Kudos to Nintendo.

IMO, GB Micro would've been 'killer' when it had a headphone jacket + a 128/256MB flashcard for MP3's... It would totally slaughter iPod Shuffle and stuff.

Does anyone know who is doing the manufacturing for nintendo? If it is ibm they may not know what speed chips they will be getting a la apple and they could have decided to keep quiet until the situation firms up.

Why wouldn't this still be an option? I'm sure a work-around could be established where a SD card fits into a GBA cart adapter for the Mini.

It might take some creative engineering to pull it off but I don't see it as being impossible. The dimensions seem to fit with regard to fitting a SD card into a GBA cart, or are at least close.
