Crytek did it, they clarified that Ryse is 900p, the same for Killer Instinct devs.

I agree that they are not obliged to answer that details, but it is nice to read that from developers.

IIRC the car game GT5 (amongst others no doubt) also called itself 1080p, but in reality it was something like 1280x1080 not 1920x1080
