Crackdown would be awesome, the first one was a really fun game at the time. Honestly the powers and scaling in that game were really well done and I'd love to see them revisit this IP and build on what the original game did right.
At gamescom ....I'm hoping they show more up to date builds of there games after all foza ......ryse son of Rome .....dead rising....killer instinct ...where all pre alpha .

New builds plus new levels of existing games plus new game announcements should keep the internet traffic and buzz about Xbox one and its games high .
Throw in more info about kinect plus maybe having it set up and a couple of demos of kinect games plus demos of the OS in action using kinect .
This will help too as well as it leads to a lot of forum traffic as the haters come out to hate .
But like the old saying goes there's no such thing as bad publicity this is about keeping your machine in the public's eye leading up to launch and beyond .

the kinect IR blaster thing was announced long time ago. about the same time as xbox one announcement?
I was happy. But now im not happy. All of the tv features are locked behind Live Gold, i assume IR blaster also locked behind Live Gold.
and i still dont know if the tv HDMI IN will support generic tv tunner made in china that get free aerial channels.
i also dont know if TV and Kinect will be region locked again.
Yes they say Xbox One are region free, but they still left a lot of details.
for example, PS3 are region free. But game can choose to be region locked, and the services also region locked.
im afraid when Xbox One being used on unsupported region, it basically become a big and expensive gaming machine. It lost all the multimedia TV TVTVTVTVTV feature.

This is a key selling point for me. If I can just walk into my living room and say "Xbox On" and that turns on both my TV and Sky satellite systems then that's pretty awsome. Similarly if I can do the same with "xbox off".
If I have to pay a monthly subscription for the privilage though then they can shove it.

No, it isn't. I've sent US bought Kinects to other countries, and they worked fine. If your referring to voice control, then only some regions are supported, it isn't "locked", which implies it would work if you could unlock it. If it doesn't support your language, it's because that language database doesn't exist.
Using an xbox (360 or One) without gold is like using an iPhone without a carrier, or a TiVo without the service (which is 3-4 times the cost of Live). Sure, it's possible, but why would you want to?
Think of it as you buying an extra game a year. A game that allows you to control all your devices, upload your other game clips, access all sorts of online services, and play multiplayer, all with your voice.
unfortunately unlike games, xbox live gold is not for everyone. Its heavily region locked.

Due to how my HTPC setup is, we don't use a remote in our house (unless we count the 360 controller). We manually get up and walk to the receiver to adjust the volume when needed, I know we are in the stone ages! Ceton App for managing our recorded content, schedule, etc.
Saying Xbox "Sound Down" would be really neat actually, Kinect V1 works well for us and I always thought it would make a good IR blaster. If this can handle turning on and off my projector that would be great, as that is the only remote we do use - mainly because the ladder is not in the house.
The only problem I will have is Kinect and the short length of the cord, right now in one room the Kinect watches the TV. Getting to that wall in the attic is almost impossible for pulling cords.
No, that's already known. And it's why they're only launching in some countries. Every country they're launching in has Live. Live is required for the Xbox One to even boot the first time. If you're in a country without Live, you will probably not be able to even complete OOBE.
That has nothing to do with region locking, which is a mechanism for publishers to control worldwide game releases.
Yes, I fought for allowing US English in all regions, but politically, it didn't fly. If we had done it, then a lot of countries would have complained we were forcing our Americanism on them, so the decision was made to disable voice in regions we didn't support. It is also heavily accent dependent, so the experience will be degraded if you're not a native English speaker. I have problems even because my accent is British-like, and my Live region is US, so it only allows me to use the US database, when the UK database would be a lot more accurate. I have to get all nasally and mangle my vowels to make Kinect listen to me and it makes my family laugh at me.yeah i mean the VOICE. and it works when i unlock the region

That sounds like it could be resolved by an extra setting exclusive to chose the language to use when doing voice controls.
Make that setting tied to your Ms account, and carry over WP and W8, and voila, you even have a new bullet point to brag about

If you're not a big online gamer then Live's value diminishes drastically. I'm not a big online gamer because difficulty scheduling with the folks I want to play with restricts it but I am a PSN+ subscriber because of the free and discounted games.

the xbox glass app which works on all tablets will control the sound for you through the xbox
does this include smart phones as well?
