From the pictures that are flowing around, it seems that the fan takes up at least 1/4 of the volume of the whole box. Nothing in it is really big except for the crazy fan.

No, it's not that they got it wrong but rather MS decided to relax the requirement.

I think it possible that they backtracked on that one, so much of the leaks turned out to be true which suggest the delay was due to something other than hardware....
I'm not sure having it non-serviceable is a good idea, as Hard drives do die. What do you do when that happens?

The internal drive is custom, which might be related to encryption or data protection. If the external storage isn't proprietary, MS might do something where certain components of the data remains on the internal drive so that the data on the external can't be used to infer too many system details or have fully usable game data.
About the size of the BD drive. Considering a CD is 12.5 cm across, we're probably looking at a 14cm fan.
Can't believe they perm'ed you as much trolling goes on there it's amazing they ban people for being wrong about specs(without posting specs). mods are wrong 24/7 on there straight up dictatorship.
Incidentally, is Blu-Ray movie playback confirmed? I'd assume yes but you never know, could be one of those hidden gotchas...

Can you account for a GPU speed bump and the confirmed 768 operations per second? I'm fuzzy on the math behind it so I'm genuinely asking and not implying.
My opinion on the event:
Presentation: It was slightly boring.
Console: Loved the name, the shape and the gamepad.
Specs: I expected a breakdown of the components. It's like the GPU doesn't exist.
Games: I want to see more games. 15 exclusive games during the first year, 8 new ips. Yayyayyayyay
DRM: No mandatory online and so on. Great.
I'd purchase it if they released it today.
I expected more of the event though. I would like to have Phil Harrison taking the floor, a candid itemization of every component of the console, even if PS4 is simply more powerful, and so on.

Whats the deal with GAF? why can't he just make a new user name and re-signup? Is there something I'm missing? Is membership restricted there?

Not so sure about the no mandatory online.If second hand is controlled and only a game can be activated in a console you will have to be online to check it out.

Could have been just to make a box and have it shown, though it didn't seem to benefit MS much going by my internet madness barometer. The webnetz don't seem to have caught fire due to this reveal.

I can understand extra space is needed to help cool all the units and parts in the case, like a PC.
It also prevents overheating. It is all about the technical aspects, for sure, but the processors inside the console shouldn't be that problematic.
I think it's a little oversized.
