New Xbox 360 reviews tonight!(Kameo, Madden, PGR3, COD2)

From IGN:

Yo yo,

So this week has been ridiculous with Microsoft changing its embargoe, every day three times a day. And we're running on one debug unit and one retail. And we don't even have a copy of PDZ yet! Anyway -- we will have three reviews tonight (as Tal has said in a previous thread) plus a video feature and, strangely, video reviews of two games (but not the text reviews until later).

Text reviews:

Madden NFL '06
NBA 2K6
Kameo: Elements of Power

Video reviews:
PGR3
Call of Duty 2

Revews of PGR3, Call of Duty 2, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland and more will come in tomorrow -- and they will be full and complete IGN three to four-page reviews. The other reviews will come along quickly after that. Sharing one unit for all these 18 games has been...shall we say, interesting...

We'll also have a fatty, and I mean FATTY, online feature detailing all the functionalities of the Xbox and each and every game, and a sweet video feature on the Xbox 360 and its capabilities.

PS, we'll also have three reviews on Xbox (but you don't really care about that, now, do you? ;))

Can't wait, this should be the first review of Kameo. Any predictions?

I'm thinking:

Kameo 9.6
COD2 9.4

And not to be outdone:

Yeah, all embargos are lifting.

1UP will have PGR3 and Kameo (both video and written reviews) at midnight.

Tomorrow is COD2, FIFA, etc.

Also a huge ass hardware feature, along with tons of hardware videos, and direct feed of PGR3, Geometry Wars 2, Kameo, yadda yadda yadda.

Tons of Xbox 360 porn.

Midnight PACIFIC time.... :rolleyes:

I'm not waiting another three hours. I'm off to bed.

Man that BS. I actually stay up. I'm on the east coast and I'm not waiting that darn long. I predict this...

Madden 2006 --> 9.0

NBA2K6 ---> 8.0

Kameo ---> 9.1

PGR3 ---> 8.8

COD2 ---->7.8

I predict much weeping and gnashing of teeth. Let me just get it over with now:

1up is biased against MS. Gamespot is biased against MS. IGN is biased against MS.
1up is biased towards MS. Gamespot is biased towards MS. IGN is biased towards MS.
1up is not biased. Gamespot is not biased. IGN is not biased.

Somewhere on this 3x3 matrix a great deal of posts will fall in the next few days.

Agreed. We will see them all. I'm telling myself now to not argue with those people in advance.

Madden

9.0 Presentation
Very impressive. From the animations to the layout of the menu screens, EA went all out.
9.0 Graphics
This the crowning achievement of next-gen Madden. The facial details in the keys plays are amazing. The scoreboards, stadiums, lighting, and football helmets are better than you've ever seen.
8.0 Sound
The roar of the crowd really helps to set the scene. The NFL film music that plays in replay mode is a brilliant touch that brings the right flavor to the game.
8.0 Gameplay
The robust Madden gameplay that made the series great shows-up here. But leaving out the ability to challenge plays is disappointing. Luckily, the core gameplay is still exciting.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
I miss mini-camp, cause that's where I spent most of my time sharpening my skills. But I'm sure I'll get miles out of this title when it's time to compete against my trash-talking friends.
8.0
Impressive OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Kameo Gamespot 8.7

The Good: Inventive, fun gameplay involves transforming into various cool, kooky creatures; plenty of variety will keep you guessing and entertained; drop-dead gorgeous visuals showcase the power of the xbox 360; beautifully composed orchestral score, as well as tons of amusing sound effects.

The Bad: Disjointed introduction may be frustrating; fairly short game at fewer than 10 hours in length; two-player cooperative mode isn't very compelling.

Wow PGR3 sounds great, now on to the other reviews.

from this little quote from the bottom of their review

1UP
Microsoft brings us automotive perfection on an HD-DVD.

i assume they mean HDTV :LOL:

edit: lol they changed it

It seems like the only thing Gamespot was disappointed with in Kameo was the introduction and length:

The only disappointing thing about Kameo: Elements of Power is that it doesn't last longer. It doesn't necessarily feel short, since it's jam-packed with things to see and do, and it keeps throwing new experiences at you from start to finish. But since the combat is mostly pretty easy, and since the puzzle solutions are always right there (courtesy of your talking hint book), you should be able to blow through Kameo pretty quickly, at which point the bonus extras and score challenges probably won't keep you busy for too much longer. Nevertheless, Kameo is absolutely a great game for as long as it lasts, and it's made even better thanks to its state-of-the-art presentation, made possible by the Xbox 360's sheer muscle. Straight out of the gate, Kameo: Elements of Power sets a high standard for how stimulating, creative, and entertaining this classic blend of action and exploration can be on the Xbox 360.

I'm still definitely picking this up :D

Usually length of a game is not a problem with me. Since I don't have that much time for gamming, even 10 hour games can take me for ever to finish, not to mention that I always tend to take much longer to finish games that the reviewers, many times I wonder how they can review a game by just breezing through it...

One thing that makes me question the 1up review is that they take all these immature potshots at RARE at the end. How professional, he barely even described the game. The Gamespot review goes into far more detail. And Greg Kasavin of all people gave it a good score, then it must be good.

Funny how it seems that 1UP is considered "professional, they know what they're talking about" when, for example, they say a certain game runs at 60fps and we should believe them, but as soon as they say something negative about another certain game, they're "unprofessional and immature"...

Nothing new really.
