Naughty Dog using PS3 engine on PS4

So it might look like this?

ND Teams:
1. ICE Team
2. Unchartered Team
3. The Last of Us Team

Insomniac

1. Engine Team
2. Game team in California
3. Game team in North (?) Carolina?

Sony Santa Monica

1. God of War
2. New IP that has been hinted on
3. People that help out other companies, ala The GameCompany, Ready at Dawn etc etc

Guerrila

1. Killzone
2. New IP

Can anybody colloborate this or have more clues to other studios?
Delete Insomniac from that list. They are not first party and now even they are not second party as they used to be.

Guerrilla also has UK team [Guerrilla Cambridge?] that is working on Killzone Mercenary.

According to yosp, some SCE studios may have 3 teams. I think ND has enough employees for that now, at around 250.

Uncharted next gen is a given, some of them must be on that now in one way or another. I hope it's drastically re-imagined though. Like partially open world crossed with management sim elements.

That would be kind of fantastic. Push in management/TLOU-like mechanics into Uncharted, and make a larger "bowl-like" level design like KZSF is going towards.

Would be great to get to be more "adventurer" in Uncharted PS4.

Yes I think it is GG Cambridge.

Why not add more studios instead of deleting Insomniac and why limit it to just Sony exclusive studios?

No other studios have more than on team? Bungie? 343 Industries? etc

IMO Sony needs to:

- sign another 3 game deal with Quantic Dream
- expand RAD and Bend with additional teams
- give ND another floor of some building, promote game lead of some previous game to be boss of that studio
- give PD 50 more people so that they could make GT game for Vita
- create new studio for porting PS3 classics to x86 [compatibility to PS4 and beyond]
- buy off 4A Games or sign 3 game deal with them

/end of offtopic from me

Rumours about a Jak 4 ?

http://www.screwattack.com/news/jak-4-screenshot-possibly-leaked

but the "experts" agree it's a fake. My console experience started with PS3, so I have no clue what these Jak and Dexter games were. I really can't imagine ND with all their expertise on motion capture animation, movie-like story telling etc. would sign up for a platform-like game.

Let's hope for Unchartered 4, but can also imagine with a new console they go for a new trilogy.

Uncharted sold on the back of being a super cinematic action game with amazing graphics. I hope they still keep it that way to some degree but the waves and waves of bad guy mercs gameplay has to be refreshed. And I think TLoU has stolen the spotlight now tbh... they'll need to distinguish Uncharted in another way. More open world is a start..

Probably a fake, as it says. I've never played a Jak and Daxter game either but I have a feeling any of these long past glory franchises no longer have much pull on the public anymore. They should be kept to smaller PSN sized titles like Sly Cooper was, which apparently did pretty well with no advertising either. And the 'AAA' studios should focus on the bigger games.

ND needs to send a few writers or designers to Guerrilla. They're technically competent but I think their talent is wasted doing KZ's with mediocre story lines and boring characters. I hope they're getting away from all of that with their new IP.

if they are doing a new uncharted game, they better make it open world. A lot of ppl are having frachise fatigue already, they can raise the bar with open world cinematics action.Old Jak games has lots of cinematics action elements like Uncharted, which proof that it can work. Even far cry 3 has Uncharted like cinematics action. ND can't really send any writers to anyone because they only their main writers are just Neiland Ammy. They really lucky to have Ammy on board, she wrote for all the legacy of kain game which many consider some of the best writing in games.

There already was for PS2 and PSP.
I dont think anyone will take this as a full Jak title.. anymore than Jak X racing.

I would love a adventure/plattformer without the half-assed attempts to bind it into boring reality (talking about you Uncharted 3). Jak 2/3 still have an edge in terms of catering purely to making a enjoyable experience (some weird teen-goth inspiration and GTA copying in part 2 aside) just because it hadnt to be watered down to be realistic.
And if cinema is any indication, animated films are still successfull so I dont see why another Jak part wouldnt work (not that this fake is any indication that this will happen anytime soon)

I wouldn't say they need to make Uncharted into a open world title, but they definitely could open-up the levels with multiple pathways for the action, stealth, and traversal gameplay.

I think that's what The Last of Us brought to the table, that people still want games that allow a bit more improvisation. Although Unchartered 2 did this to some degree (one shootout path and one stealth path) for a handful of levels.

Whatever they did with dynamic steaming for character animations should help with whatever they do for Uncharted, The Last of Us, and any new IP they make.

TLoU is actually the uncharted 2 team, so they don't dedicate teams to franchises. They've said Drake will be back, but they also tend to do new franchises with new generations. Who knows.

Funnily enough, the PS4 should allow for a Jak game to look pretty damn close to Pixar levels of imagery (except the image quality, of course). It'd actually make a lot of sense to build a game like that as CG feature animation is still an almost guaranteed money maker in the movies if it's done at a reasonable quality with a good story. Who wouldn't want to play a game looking like that, from kids to grown-ups?

I don´t know. I would like to play a game like that but Ratchet games in PS3 already looked very good and didn´t get many sales if i am correct. The mass market for that kind of games maybe is now only in Nintendo hands ( or in the IOS ones ), who knows.

The problem with R&C ToD on PS3 was the gameplay wasn't evolving. Graphically things were very good but IMO the actual mechanics were pretty dated. To the point were I didn't even bother with the dlc or CiT.

Yes, i agree, in fact the only good platformer from a mechanics point of view i have played this gen is Mario Galaxy 2 ( i didn´t like 1 ).

I thought both R&C CiT and ToD became Greatest Hits ? I remember James Stevenson mentioned that R&C for PS2 made most of its sales when it hits $20 (i.e., become Greatest Hits).

CiT has some complicated time puzzles but I liked ToD's simplicity more.

I haven't played any R&C prior to ToD, but I thought ToD and CiT were excellent games.
