Mortal Kombat X [Multiplatform]

Your taking my quotes out of context...who cares if it's first or third party, what I think looks better, looks better to me. Your opinion may differ. I'm cool with that and don't appreciate the your opinion is "silly" comment.

Regarding tutorials, it wasn't a comparison, it was a reply to NRP who was saying he was terrible at fighting games. The reason I mentioned Skullgirls and KI is that it IS derivative and therefore a good way to get into "classic" fighting games. Both of those tutorial training modes does a great job of explaining fighting game fundamentals that mostly carry over to other fighting games. Most of the mainstream fighting games do not utilize a block button and instead use "back" for block. It's why I wouldn't recommend MKX for someone wanting to learn general fighting game mechanics. It's still a great game to learn other fundamentals such as set-ups, baiting, etc.

You're taking this way to seriously. I actually really like MKX hence the pre-order which I don't normally do nowadays.

I think they look worse in every way than Tekken Tag 2 on PS3. Clearly they didn't bother to make them better for next-gen - these are last-gen assets, and I'm sure we'll see them pretty much exactly like this on 360 and PS3 later this year.

Yeah definitely agree. For some reason I was thinking about the faces having Crysis 1 level.of details (from the opening only as the game is inconsistent.) But after watching the MKX fatalities and their focus on gross, murder and dark gore porn...then it wouldn't work too well.

Other than Killer Instinct being derivative of pre-existing fighting games like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat series, KI doesn't really have anything to do with (other than it wouldn't exist if Street Fighter II and MK failed) and isn't worth comparing or favoring as you are doing in your posts...

The topic is MKX, not Killer Instinct remake/reboot of the classic 90s Nintendo/Rare fighting game is prettier. Or ignoring it's a first party effort with it's own art style to obey.

Or rather replicating the old 90s style from the Arcade machine but using 3d polygon graphics instead of pre-rendered.

Which btw was part of the mention here about MK and people sharing their opinions on why MKX didn't try to do photo realistic or photo-capture off of live actors but in 3d polygon graphics which kinda has a short answer.

Basically once MK 4 hit the 3d polygon graphics, Midway basically just used a single motion-capture actor (one of the ninjas from the previous and first MK arcade games) and then just go for an art style for the face and bodies of the characters.

As for the block button and "mainstream fighters using back to block" what mainstream fighters? Tekken and Street Fighter?

Dead or Alive series and Virtua Fighter series also use block buttons going all the way back from Arcade machine days.

Finally and I'll repeat...MK9 solved the tutorial system by offering the challenge tower..they did same with Injustice (made also by NetherRealms) and rinse repeat variation with MKX.

Found this quote in the digital foundry thread
but the game is partially let down by the 30fps performance cap during X-rays and fatalities, which serves little purpose on a constantly evolving platform.
So does the cap just kick in during fatalities and the rest of the game runs at a higher framerate
