I play a bit yesterday with a friend. I like the graphics, but as a game I think Injustice is better. The characters are more iconic, the full meter moves are more fun than the obscene bone breaking stuff from MKX. Overall I guess I can relate more to comic book setting than the MK stuff which I did not grow up with. I hear MKX has less content and a shorter story too.
Although your opinion is ok, it sounds like you didn't play MK9 or previous MK games.
Although Injustice is done by the same developer it cannot equal or be the same type of game as MK...actually this was discovered.with Mortal Kombat vs D.C. Universe last gen...it was out of character for even depicting the Joker's fatality in a videogame so it was censored.
Mortal Kombat is really about recapturing the old 2d Arcade fighting games that boasted many animations, blazing fast load times to make characters like "Shang Tsung" or even Neo Geus (from World Heroes) and many of the intricate gimmicks and gags introduced during two dimensional graphics Mortal Kombat era like the toasty guy, changing backgrounds (not that MK was the first) and more.
It's not fair to compare or iconize characters like Superman, Batman, etc to Scorpion, Subzero, Shao Kahn, Motaro, etc.
The X-Rays or bone crunching attacks come from MK9...
MK is also cartoony gore...it's not supposed to be realistic nor interpreted as such or characters would simply drop dead from a couple of punches and fighting against Goro in MK 1 would be impossible.
Also way back in Street Fighter II Arcade there was an animation that a punch or kick would trigger a character like Ryu, etc throwing up...
