Surprise Megaton Bombshell 4K Title reveal:

Scalebound

plus they need to get rid asap of the Xbox One name, it has a bad vibe around it -many don't want to touch it with a stick- so I hope the console is called Scorpio:

"Salesman: Hello. May I help you?
You: Yes, I want a Scorpio".

Sounds good.

On a different note, Scorpio reveal is pretty much confirmed but Forza 7 won't be shown:

Agree with that. It's only early April, It's actually very early relative to E3 for a reveal. The rumor is we get specs, nothing much else. Dont expect any games, the console form factor, etc.

And it's likely the main reason they do this is because the specs will leak soon either way. So either they tell us or it comes in a leak.

The translation for this is "unofficial" wish list?? I don't think these are leaks. Any game on XBO could become 4K on scorpio with some patches. The released Spec of Scorpio was to address this directly.

Granted, native 4K is not the best usage of resources, but changing the frame buffer to 4K and redoing memory management is significantly easier and less work than asking developers to go back to insert checkerboard rendering. You don't need to rework anything else. When fans were upset that certain games didn't get the "real" 4Pro experience, They've got to understand that older titles were designed for native and if changed to CBR could begin producing artifacts. Whole sections of the game might need to be redone entirely. If you never had intention to do checkerboard rendering from the start, then it might be a huge lift to ask a developer to go back and make changes. Some are more willing than others of course, but not all.

Thus the expectation for more 4K games native or not on Scorpio is a given. It's significantly easier to pull off.

Which is why of course I do find the arguments against Scorpio out right confusing. And I'm going to sidestep the discussion of what is a "gen". Console mentality is a little extreme in terms of getting the most out of your hardware. I get it, the romance of hardware punching above its weight due to optimization is like a carpenter who builds furniture with hand tools only and insanely good precision. But sometimes when you have limited time and you need things done and fast, we've got power tools for that. It gets It done.

It's fairly obvious to me a game like ME: Andromeda isn't going from 1800c on PS Pro to 4K native on scorpio.
The issue with generalization is illustrated well by the following:

There are only a handful of areas where CBR had significant reductions in processing time.

Games have bottlenecks everywhere and assuming you just halve stuff doesn't mean everything gets halved.

as we have indicated many times, performance requirements are not linear with resolution increases.

If you think this disproves my claim you didn't look at it very closely.

It may not, but that wasn't my point. According to that 1800p is 28.7ms Vs 18.36ms with CBR on 4Pro. A 33% reduction going to CBR from native 1800p.
Scorpio is already flat out 33% more powerful. And beefier in bandwidth as well. If we generalize , Scorpio can do native 1800p at 18.36ms. But I assume certainly faster. 2160p is more of a lift, but I wouldn't rule it out (it could be tight). There are other factors to consider as well.

Just on a speculative level, it's reasonable to expect that emulated 360's titles are in some way upgraded in framerate or resolution?

"Salesman: Hello. May I help you?
You: Yes, I want a Scorpio".

Sounds good.
Doesn't sound good to me. Sounds like your trading in concubines via star sign, or picking up some 'off roader' SUV that can't actually go anywhere outside of town because it's only off-road in style. I'm sure there are a thousand better names. And they'll need to incorporate the XBox name for the branding.

Don't we have a thread for name suggestions already? Edit: I see people are entering wholeheartedly into the spirit in this thread.

If Scorpio has a boost mode like the pro then yeah possibly. At least every real Xb1game released before scorpio could benefit from it too.
