tekken tag and SSX where the best release games ! (here in europe anyway)

a major difference between jap and us/eu Tekken was the aa filtering namco enabled on these versions. they looked quite a bit jaglezz then.

and damn, still didnt see anything from x360. time to hunt some websites

oh and btw.. the xbox and x360 are almost the same in size?? damn

Ok jvd we are exposing you for what you really are.

Please I think the pics speak for themselves.

Those screenshots don't do justice to how horrible the non-perspective correct point sampled floor and wall textures are in Tekken* on the PS1.

I agree Democoder what can I say I tried to get the best Tekken 3 pics. What we can agree on is that at sometime over the last couple of hours jvd has gone mad. :)

I don't know... looking at the game played it didn't look that bad, not great looking, but it's clearly far from finished, so let's not make final assumptions based on what we have seen so far.

Yes, that was it. It was very old info and I got mixed up. thanks for the reminder.

ouch!

Watch the tekken tag in motion on a jap ps2 , the version from launch .

It looks like crap and the psone version looks better . The psone version is not a mess to look at .

But hey , so i've gone mad . I see

Logic finding its way through

No pointsampled perspective incorrect game is going to look better than than bilinear filtered perspective correct game, sorry. PS1 games tried ot minimize this by using Gouraud shading as much as possible, but ultimately, the level environments needed to use textures, and there's no hiding floor textures that look awful and "pop" around.

I'm sorry, but you are out of your mind. No fanboi talk, no arguing, u're just out of your mind. Tekken Tag looks in every conceivable way better than any PS1 tekken, and always will. I'm not even sure why we're discussing this, it's just... very elementary.

I just did this, you must be the most bias person around to think Tekken 3 looks better.

The best shows always have an encore.

*applause*

We, sure, saw a great play tonight. Incredible stuff, Tragicomedy at its finest.

Heh, we could list so many things that make TTT look 10 times better than T3, we'd be here all day.
JVD, you only need to pop T3 in your PS2, play it for half an hour (with or without bilinear filtering enabled, it's not much of a difference), then pop in TTT.

How you can say what you just said is totally beyond me, and it seems it's beyond everyone else who have eyes.

Just for the record. How much did MS pay for Rare again? =P

~$375M, of which ~$175M was paid to Nintendo for their stake in Rare.

I know that Rare lost a lot of people before the sale (e.g. a large part of the Goldeneye 007 and PD team left and formed the dev house that makes TimeSplitters) and that the Stemper (sp?) brothers who founded Rare have said to be very hands off now (this was from IGN from before the sale even). Dinosaur Planet (aka SFA) was an ok looking game, but an N64 port. It was obviously incomplete though. Maybe it has to do with being too thin... Conkers looks very good, and Kameo looked acceptible. Rare has always taken forever on their games. Who knows what it is going on in Rare...

All I know is that a good portion of the Xbox games looked totally awesome--next gen by far. There is no reason PD0, from supposedly a 1st party with a ton of time and cash, should not be on par or at least close. If the excuse is porting they should have rebuilt the engine. GR3, Gears of War, Condemned, etc... are not making excuses. They all looked awesome.

And like I mentioned before, 5 months is not enough time to change all the character models, player textures, level design and detail, level textures, art direction, etc... There is a reason AAA games take 2-4years to make with 50+ crews (some up toward 300). The only thing I can think of is this was ment to be on the Xbox and was the 6 week port Allard spoke of and/or this was a diversion for E3. They intentionally did not show many games on MTV (that is what E3 is for... MTV was about the console in general and why AVERAGE consumers would want it). Maybe the PD0 was a diversion and E3 they will show much newer footage or will have a huge surprise game.

Much wierder stuff has happened before... but the Xbox 360 has been such a b ad kept secret I doubt it. The fact is this gen is not about power, but about game artists, developer budgets, and game design. If you do not have good programmers, artists, and mappers you can have all the power in the world and it wont make your game look good or play good.
