Mass Effect 3

As I said, long term self-destructive behaviour ...

Selling you the 60 dollar box with micro-transaction models is trending. Moving their game to a service keeps them supporting the game long term and keeps it financial viable. For a company that does RPGs, they are ahead of the curve.

I have nothing against DLC, not even day 1 DLC ... I don't take issue with that. I take issue with the hard sell before reviews are in.

It shows a lack of faith in the product ... it shows decline.

There is a day 1 DLC for an additional character? I hope it's cheap and worth buying. Not a big fan of day 1 dlc.

Some say the additional character is a Promethean which is given weight since the DLC is supposely called "From Ashes". Bioware claims the DLC was built during the 3 months that ME3 was sent in for gold certification. I see nothing wrong with day one DLC but I bought AC new and didn't bother to download the Cat Woman DLC. So, I might not be the best representation of a core gamer under these circumstances.

You didn't play the Catwoman DLC! You poor poor soul. Fighting as Catwoman was one of the highlights of the game! Including the DLC on the disc and keeping it locked to people without an access code (used buyers) was a DICK move.

Soldier is also the easiest class to get through on the hardest difficulty, proof enough it's a shooter with simple RPG trappings. It's just that the core gameplay doesn't match the pedigree.

Play the multiplayer portion. Soldier is probably the least capable class to play at the hardest settings. I should know because it was my favorite class in previous games but I felt so ill equip during multiplayer. Andrenaline rush doesn't last long enough to deal with more than one AI at a time.

My favorite is the engineer because of its drone ability. Most people I see who release drones do so at certain locations to prevent flanking. But if you target the enemy and release your drone it will manifest behind the AI, it basically an automatic flanking manuver.

A lot of people play Vanguard because of its ability to warp close to enemy AI and then use hard hitting melee tactics. Also, I use a Turian sentinel because he is like a long range tank since you get a 25-50% boost to your shield with tech armor and the turian character has high regular shields to start with additional points to weapon stability. I walk around with a scoped heavy pistol and start off every encounter with an overload (breaks armors while acting like a tazer) usually at twice the distance of the other players. The problem with turians is that they can't do any form of combat rolling so playing up close isn't really a good tactic especially against a phantom.

In fact in my experience soldier is the least used class in multiplayer and is mostly used by new comers who haven't seen how effective the other classes can be.

Soldier is fine in multiplayer on bronze, but on silver and gold the grenades just aren't effective enough.

Asari Adept seems the most powerful because of stasis working on shielded targets.

lol!

1)I wasn't even talking about multiplayer for Mass Effect. I don't even care for their horde mode. Hell, I haven't even touched it yet for Gears 3 which is far and away the superior shooter.

2)I was talking about single player Mass Effect 2 on the hardest difficulty. Very few people can argue that objectively, Solider, isn't the easiest way to get through it.

I agree with MfA that the hard sell is a bad trend and I don't like day 1 DLC either as it feels like I'm being ripped off. I never bought the day 1 DLC for Dragon Age even though I did buy one of the other DLC's.

My bad. But Im just pointing out that the Soldier class may not be the "easiest" class anymore. You might not care about the hordemode but its the multiplayer mode that showcases the classes and their playstyle far better then the single player portion of the demo.

Watching other actual players play different classes has been far more informative then how the typical ME npc plays those classes.

I am one of those players who played through ME 1 & 2 as a soldier because i assumed that the other classes capabilities were mostly fluff. I didnt want to give up my ability to hit harder with my guns for skills that seemed superficial in nature. My allied NPCs did nothing to disuade me from my opinion and Im still not sure ME 1 & 2 classes represent the level of dynamic gameplay I was exposed to in the multiplayer demo. But one thing I wont be doing in ME 3 is playing the soldier class.

Maybe they should have the character class demonstration videos pop up when the player is at the class selection screen. I mean, it's nice to have the descriptions and all, but it's a lot more obvious what the pros/cons are if you see it first hand. A couple of my friends just pick soldier because that's what they're familiar with, and they don't want to spend the time to explore the other classes i.e. gotta restart from the beginning and then playthrough far enough so that you assign and/or unlock said differentiating powers to then see the powers and see if you like them blah blah blah time's wasting what the fuck am i doing.

I mean, those demo videos are part of the marketing up on youtube, but what's the point in trying to inform average joe if you don't do it in the game itself? Not everyone is going to keep up with all the media.

I totally agree with you because if you ever get into a me3 multiplayer with a bunch of high level players with a diverse make up it literally looks like xmen mutants with guns.

Or people just like the soldier class :devilish:
When it comes to rpg my only requirement is there has to be a male gender.
It the only thing for me to relate to the character(i myself are a male).

But i do plan after my soldier trilogy to look into other classes the biotec ones mostly.
Still sucks for that day one dlc it feels like that the last part of the trilogy should have the forerunner in by default all you're doing is too not end the same as them.
And this should be part of project 10 dollar they already have a awesome singleplayer(not day 1 dlc) and coop to milk my money from.

But then again that is the beauty of having all 3 platforms i can just get a cd key from the internet or whatever platform offers the cheapest and it is way cheaper then i can get a boxed copy.
So i already preordered the deluxe edition for origin on some website and probably get the code on the 6th or the 7th.

I thought the demo was good for just that...

Yeah, but it's still the same problem. You gotta replay the SP over and over (assuming you don't even touch multiplayer).

Hope by god they implement a class pack have played the coop for like what felt like 20 hours or so and still only unlocked 2 other classes.

.

I'm pretty sure that Soldier still will be the easiest class in game. In multiplayer is limited to only 4 skills and dont have bullet time, in singleplayer enemies will be weaker, You will have bullet time, more skills and squadmates with powers, also armor upgrades and Shepard upgrades.

So... literally, press B to win? Or even scripted action sequences? Sounds like a really expensive choose your own adventure novel ($60). :p Might as well just come up with a blu ray interactive movie or read the wiki.

This. I would absolutely be in favor of them making the combat as hard as they wanted to to appease the Gears dorks, if they gave me the option to skip the combat sections.

How about you pay me $60 and ill provide you a video of my play through? ;)

For an extra $60 dollars I will provide a version with Dobwal's commentary and extra special edition with DobWal's own custom dub overs.

"Enough is ENOUGH! I have had it with these MUTHA@#$IN' REAPERS on this MUTHA@#$IN' PLANET! Everybody strap in! (extracts his gun) I'm about to open some F@#$IN' CANS OF WHOOP A@#!!!!"

Have you really explored the multiplayer portion of the demo? If not, please do. Maybe you will find a class that doesn't play as boring as soldier that might make the combat portions more enjoyable.
