Mass Effect 3

I don't agree with girls playing with spaceships. It's unrealistic! Pre-order canceled.

:D

I see what you did there....

I just want to say that Ashley the CGI model looks about a billion times better than Ashley the in game model. You can see the similarities on the Male Shepard but it's night and day for Ashely.

In the name of the entire team here, thanks guys!

The short clips of the space ships, jet fighters are awesome. They really convey a sense of speed that a lot of science fiction movies and shows get wrong. Almost makes me wish there was a full-fledged Mass effect space battle game.

Come at me? :D

Anyhoo, heard about the day 1 DLC for that extra character. Why couldn't they just do it like they did for ME2 with Zaeed? :/ Why give incentive for the collector's edition only to have it produced in limited quantities (stores seem to be reporting that you can't order it anymore). Bloody annoying. Fuck you EA. :p

I was a bit lucky because my pre-order for the standard edition was $20 less than MSRP, so in theory, I could buy back the full game bit by bit (they'll probably put up the other bonus items for sale except for robo dog and N7 Hoodie). :|

Speaking of the hoodie, they should allow players to equip it if they're playing Story Mode. >_> :p

Saw some Turian ships in the mix there too. hmmm.... :3

ME3 actually has that option, if you choose the "action" style, it plays the dialogues as cut scenes. They're doing a disservice to their loyal fanbase though, chasing sales in return for creating Gears Lite.

Don't really agree with this. It's much better idea to have different modes/options than trying to please everyone with one style of play IMO. This way they have certain freedoms to how they design each mode to better cater to each type of gamer.

If ME3 is a disservice, ME2 must have been even worse since the level up and customization options are scaled back more in that game.

The extended trailer is much much better than what was shown last Sunday, great job guys.

Oh I agree, apart from the FOV issue and potentially the graphics/sounds quality ME3 would be hard pressed not to be an improvement on ME2.

How does giving one the option of playing through the game without dialog choices create a "disservice to their loyal fanbase?". Their loyal fanbase will be choose the role-playing option. Those that don't care about forming relationships/directing the story will choose Action, whereas otherwise they might not have played it at all.

There might be a concern that the addition of this mode will mean there's less emphasis on dialog & story, but I don't necessarily see how that follows. Adding an action mode should be a simple process - you simply have a pre-set list of responses and don't show the dialog wheel - done. Shouldn't have detracted from any serious development work.
I play soldier because at lowest difficulty, it's the easiest class to use to get through the boring shooting parts.
If you describe them as "boring shooting parts" (one of the reasons they're boring btw is because you're playing with the most boring class, try Vanguard), then ME3 is even more perfect for you - story mode.

Yeah, in fact it's actually a good thing - bigger sales expectations may persuade EA to increase the budget for the entire game. And we've seen that the RPG elements have actually got more complex because of the new skill and weapon mod system so definitely no loss there.

Having worked in software all my life, I know that no feature is free. For them to have included three different playing modes, something else had to go. Instead of concentrating on a single gamestyle, the one that got them to the position they're now in, they're trying to be everything to everyone, and I seriously doubt they will pull it off. If I want a Space Marine Shooter, I'll kick over whichever rock 343 studios or Epic is currently under. I come to Bioware for the story.

No, the reason they're boring is because a) I don't give a shit about killing the same thing again and again, and again, and agian and again just to progress a few yards and do it again. and b) They don't progress the story at all. Their entire reason for existence to to pad the gameplay time.

And yes, I will be playing story mode. I did, in the demo, and there was _still_ too much boring run and gun. If I wanted a zombie survival game, I'd be playing Left 4 dead. I get it already, there are lots of husks. Whoo.

You weren't just shooting husks in the demo but Cerberus operatives, which AI acts in a completely different manner. Secondly, 343 studios won't be making a third person shooter, which again, acts in a completely different manner than a first person shooter. There are zero similarities in mechanics, in fact, they aren't even interchangeable.

BioWare really needs to put an alternate control scheme in there. They need to separate the run, cover and rolls buttons. You can put the roadie run and rolls on the same button but cover needs its own button. It works perfectly for Gears. I can't count how many times I accidentally roll into a shotgun blast when I want cover, I don't have that problem with Gears because I can separate the two.

The more I read about it, the more I consider not buying or waiting until it's dirt cheap...

Beautiful trailer, and nice music choices too. But c'mon, Ash isn't supposed to be that pretty. That's pretty enough to be a custom Femshep. :)

I think the in game model is also an "upgrade" to the previous Ashley :)

What's the latest that is pushing you towards that conclusion? I think I'll get this on launch, but I have set my expectations lower than what I had before the second game, the there shouldn't be any nasty surprises. I'm positively surprised though if they manage to make the ending satisfactory.

edit:

contains footage from the demo and some might think it has spoiler regarding DLC, that is available at launch, but imo it's safe if you consider the demo safe.

I pretty much agree with that. Sounds pretty lame to charge 10$ for a somewhat important character that is available at launch. edit 2. AlStrong had already mentioned that, but I didn't catch it.

The demo seemingly inferior to ME2, huge down here. (Animations, dialogues and controls)
Selling a *critical* character DLC on day 1
(a prothean)
(Also all this shithead talk about second hand games is beyond stupid. People use that money to buy MORE games fucktards, besides EVERY other industry deals with it just fine.)

Well I actually pretty much agree with "them" on the used games thing. I don't think this industry is like every other industry and thus comparisons don't work too well. I think the system they used in ME2 was good, but what they are doing now is pushing it over the line.

The impression I get and one that I've always had from Ashley's physical in game model is that she's bi-racial (even in Mass Effect 3), in the that CGI trailer she looks like a full blown Caucasian. To say they are vastly different is an understatement.
