Last of Us [PS4]

:)

No, didn't think it'd be my type of game for some reason, plus I was fighting the controls in UC1-3 all the way. Twas more a graphical curiosity than anything, but the cut-scenes I did see here and there told an interesting story.

The controls were fine. You will value the pleasure of a good melee attack.... once you have crushed someone's skull with a good baseball bat, you never look back

Looks like a slight DOF in effect with the camera panning out.

The ground textures could use some AF (and/or higher res asset). Fix it!

Slight DOF? More like excessive DOF.

The problem doesn't come from resolution assets or AF, because the original 720p textures seem to be in higher resolution than in this high quality 1080p trailer.

The Last of Us LegoDOFstered.

Well, maybe some day I'll get around to it. :)

Nah, I'd call something like this or this or this, excessive, but you're free to have different opinions of blurring amounts. ;) I'm not sure this is even worth debating (semantics).

I don't buy it. The texel density on the ground textures are just plain blurry when contrasted to the adjacent geometry considering the focus of the camera is mainly in the Giraffic Park (from the ground on the far left side to just the center path next to the lead giraffes).

Also, as far as I can tell, the ground textures are still fairly blurry in the PS3 edition (far left beside the car, right beside his right arm etc).

---

At any rate, it'll be interesting to see how the final product will end up (especially uncompressed shots) since it at least appears the artists are willing to alter a few bits here and there (like the ledge beside Ellie).

There has been several high profile PS4 releases lacking AF lately, with the XB1 version usually having AF(if multi).
To not have it in a PS3 remaster is odd.

Anyway with this being 1080/60 i will grab it when i can purchase a white PS4 slim.

Phil: Bruce and Neil did a great job of directing this game, but at the same time, there was a lot of trial and error involved in making it. For example, we went through a lot of iterations with the Clickers. During the viral campaign for the game, we uploaded a video to Youtube which had Clicker sounds that me and Neil had made in my office, recorded into an iPhone. It was a silly clicking sound that I had made with my voice. But we evolved the sounds from that and it became much more. We also worked collaboratively with other departments, and it’s exciting when we see someone from the art department draw a Clicker for the first time, and it has no eyes. So we figured out that they use echo-location. So everything we do informs itself down the line, and we thrive on that challenge.

I also like the sound of those Clickers, i think they sound scarier than zombies... Zombies' sound these days are so boring. Game developers or movie makers need to develop some kind of new sound of zombies in the future releases.

The lad pops onto the forum every week or so and spams just about every single thread with whatever thought pops into his head that precise moment. Not really worth paying attention to.

Are you talking about me dude? That is mean. I really meant it when i said that this game shouldn't be exclusive anymore for PlayStation. They should also release this title on Xbox console because it's a great game. The same goes to Uncharted.

What's next? Microsoft should release kinect hardware that runs on a Playstation?

Some games are worth buying hardware for, that is the play exclusives bring to the table.

And I think the elephant posting style is what annoys some of the be3d users, this is a highly moderated forum by some of the best mods to be found (getting brown tongued) it's everything the Internet isn't, you either adapt or get out whether you want or not, good luck :)

The Last of Us PS4's character models 'on par' with PS3 cutscene models

Videogamer are reporting on a snippet of an interview between EDGE (issue 267) and Neil Druckmann:

VG/EDGE said:
"We brought in all the hi-res models, and then it's on par with what you saw in the cutscenes," Druckmann said, speaking about the upcoming PS4 release with EDGE. "There's an improved lighting model. After that, we started looking across the board; enemies look a little blurry up close, so that was pretty easy. We ramped those up and saw a pretty significant difference.

"Our cinematics are now running at 1080p and 60fps, and that involved rendering them all from scratch," he continued. "It's interesting that now [instead of a technical bottleneck], the bottleneck is 'Can we fit all this on the disc?'"

Druckmann also suggested that Naughty Dog may look to take advantage of the features of the DualShock 4, adding that he wants to "give the option to switch which triggers you use to shoot and which ones you're using to listen and crouch.

"Then there are some ideas of how to use the touchpad that we'll play with and see if it's worth it," he added. "Mostly we don't want to mess with the experience too much, and we don't want to deviate from what made The Last of Us so great."
Clearly not just a spruce up which is what the early reveal trailer looked to me.

Just as a reference, The Last of Us was 32-33GB on PS3, Left Behind was additional 4 GB.

I cant wait wait to play though the game again on PS4.

What? He is bragging the fact that PS4 version will have pre-rendered cutscenes, CGI at 1080p60fps?
