Last of Us [PS4]

Yeah, they are greedy. Despite I sold my copy + PS3, wonder if PSN is intelligent enough to find my PS3 save games in the cloud and use these for the PS4 version. Probably not .... ;-(((
Isn't the PS3 version also $60 on the PSN store? What were the chances a remastered better version with improved visuals was going to be less, unless they drop the price of the PS3 as well?

And they can make game saves cross-platform with Cross Play, that's exactly what it's for. There's no guarantee that they will but I think it likely and they only requires a server-side change.

It is very good for people who never played the game on PS3...
It is, but over 6 million bought LoU. I'd be curious to know what proportion of PS4's early adopters didn't play LoU. Sony should offer an upgrade price, so $60 raw price, $30 upgrade or something when you send back the disc or, your account has a platinum trophy or something. Much easier to offer an upgrade for digital purchases. Perhaps they should only offer upgrades for downloads and thus encourage to buy digital in future with a view to upgrade offers?

I'm an early adopter and didn't play much of it......

The PS3-to-PS4 game upgrade programmes were announced at E3 last year and has been available in the UK since PS4 launch day. This is for both disc and digital purchases if the publisher/retailer are in the programme - EA, Activision and Ubisoft certainly are.

GAME in the UK offer it - you'll need the receipt and a crisp £10 note. There is already a digital upgrade programme in the PS4 Store. If Sony really want to reward PS3 folks who bought TLoU digitally, they could make this Cross Buy, i.e. free.

Many PS4 early adopters are X360-only gamers who did not have chance to play this game before.

As for $60 price, this deal is much more better than Tomb Raider\s. Here we will get really good story DLC.

Missed out on this on ps3 because I sold it while there was still a bit of a market for them pre ps4 so will definitely pick this up. Just hope they do a physical copy not just digital

Hope it's not 60fps, I want all that extra power used on graphics alone with fancy shaders, high res textures, improved models, more geometry in the scene, maybe even a couple of advanced effects from UC4. A game like TLOU does not need 60fps.

I'm one of those 6 million that hasn't completed it though. I know, the shame, the shame... :p

I might give it another go on the PS4 though, even if 60 dollars sounds like a lot. Don't know if my balls have grown since I last played it on the PS3 to warrant that price and if they are now large enough to complete the game though...

I know a guy well versed in evaluating ball size, if you're interested in an expert opinion. :yep2:

Its official.

The upgrade, which has expired, was in place because these games were released before the PS4. What does that have to TLoU? No one bought TLoU expecting a PS4 version and conversly no one bought a PS4 to play TLoU.

Is $60 a rip off? I don't see how a person who has never played it because they never had a PS3 is going to complain about a year old game, one of the best games made period, with the DLC is the price of.. every other game.

Currently TLoU disc is $38 on Amazon, the DLC is $15. So $53 for the last gen version, of course MSRP is still $75 for the combo.

As for PS3 owners, they had no expectations of getting a free or discounted version. I payed $60 for the PS3 disc and $15 for the DLC, I'm not slighted in the least, I got exactly what I payed for. If I ever get the PS4 version, I can wait for a price drop, after all I've already finished it.

I wonder if Halo 2 owners are going to get a free or discounted copy of the rumored Halo 2 XB1 release? ;)

indirectly-confirmed 30fps? :p Just hope it's a very solid one. Also needs AF/MSAA then.

Maybe they'll use touchpad for inventory?

Commentary tracks are a nice addition, though tbh, I'd rather have it as a special movie-length feature like the Halo 1/2 & Reach commentaries (gameplay spliced in where they talk during the gameplay). I find in-game commentaries to be distracting/annoying given the pacing of the levels & who-knows-how-long-they'll-talk (Valve, Alan Wake etc). I suppose with lots of RAM available, they can afford it to be in-game though...

Why do you think that this confirms 30fps? More likely, it is way closer to confirming 60fps. Tomb Raider recieved a LOT more upgrades than "better models, shadows and lightning" while managing to achieve average of 1080p 50+ fps.

Because they don't pimp 60fps is all. Besides, they can use a lot of the resources on high MSAA/AF levels for a more pristine look. It also depends on how far they go with lighting & shadowing - more advanced shadow algorithms than PCF/cascade (or just blow a ton on high sampling), more accurate light bounce for the flashlight. etc.

Better DOF in cut-scenes, pared back motion blur, and some extra smoke blowing around?

Why stop with high sampling effects and good AA? They could achieve perfect IQby using full on ray-tracing. :D

Its early to claim that this is 30 when we know so little. We have only short official blurb on Amazon and nothing else. Not even press release was released.
